I have a 2001 Volvo when it is idling the motor will just shut down like the key is turned off ( you can restart it and it fires up with normal cranking). Any info on where to start looking for the problem?

Try stepping on the clutch pedal when the idle shutdown light comes on. Or, if that doesn't work, hold the brakes on until the idle shutdown warning light goes off. -
do you have shutdown enabled in the paramaters/programming? most trucks have idle shut down on them.

Hit the cruise button for the fast idle. If you don't do this, yes, the truck will shut itself off.

I had same issue...My truck if ac on idling ay 600 rpm every once in awhiole would shut down. Try bumping up rpm till it smooths out usually 900 rpm. Its to much strain on engine and can cause blow by. I never idle at 600 rpm foir any amount of time anymore due to its not good for engine...hope this helps
