I have a mix of every brand. Mostly consumer stuff. As a kiddie working on my bicycle I kinda commandeered my uncle's Husky 3/8" drive set back in the early 70's. I still have and use them all the time. The quality and feel is nothing like Husky Chinese stuff today.
Are Snap-on tools really better ?

Yes I think they are really better. I have 90% snap on and have Mac air cat for air tools
-
Yes I think they are. There is one tool brand I have that costs more than Snap On, and is made by Snap On but has a little more novelty to me, They say CAT on them.
I'm slowly but surely in the process of converting all my tools to Snap On / Cat tools. I've broke enough grey market crap, needed this specialty socket or that specialty wrench enough that they are most definitely worth it in my opinion. I've yet to see a tool break or slip while it's sitting in the drawer, but man do they sure let loose when your hands or other bodily parts are going to be in the line of fire.
I try to do as much of my mechanic stuff as I can but still get help from a good mobile mechanic when time or technology is an issue.
Which reminds me, I need to get some more tools! -
I have lots of tools. All craftsman snap on and mac. Now new craftsman tools pretty well suck and I spend good money when ever I can find old craftsman tools. but yes snap on and mac are great. however I still keep a set of new craftsman on hand incase I break something and need a back up plus it is hard to get the tool guy over on the weekends where sears is open. no real winner there. so what do you do...lol

Some of my new " organized " snap- on tools .
The holder was only $12 bucks , the wrenches were a fortune .....

Mounted it under passenger seat... No rattling or squeaking . And you can't see them from the drivers seat, or from the outside of the truck.....,,Last edited: Aug 8, 2013

that is absolutely FALSE ! my son is a dealer and all snap on brand tools and tool boxes are made in the USA
-
I won't by the harbor freight crud.
But I will by the Proto/autoparts store brand stuff.
I have Snap-on, Matco and Mac tools as well.
I have better things to spend my money on that investing in tools as much as I invested in the truck.
I make it a point to buy only 6 point shank drive sockets and wrenches when possible too.
Screw drivers are another matter. Cheap is NOT the way to go. -
Mostly true, but last time I checked, there were a little over 300 tools from China.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&....com+"Country+Of+Origin"+" China"&btnG=Search
I see it's up to 425 now. Most are Blue point, but there are some Snap-on Carts, cordless tools, magnets, c-clamps and such that are labeled Snap-on. I ask every time. He he cannot show me that it is 100% made in USA, I'll try Mac.
I do give Snap-on some credit for publishing the country of origin right on the site out in the open though. Most do not do that, it makes it easier for people like me who want to keep our money in the US to pick tools. I caught my Snap-on dealer lying about a tool cart, thanks to my smart phone and Snap-on's website. -
