The reasons that applied to me were reasons 1,2,3,4,6 and to a degree 10.

Another reason, specific to me, is that I can now see family on the other side of the country that I wouldn't see otherwise. Now I get paid to travel to see mom, dad and sis in Virginia, to visit my little bro in Kansas and see my other family and friends back in NJ while I live in Washington State. Prior to this job I only saw my folks about once every 2 or 3 years due to the prohibitively high cost of flying. Now, since starting this new career, I have already seen my parents 3 times since March. This would be my #1 or #2 on the list.

I'm a new trucker. With only this forum as a reference, I got into trucking as a job and as a way to travel. I wake up with a new view almost everyday. I also needed a job and a new career. I lived a somewhat solitary life before so this fits well. I live out of my truck so my living costs are low. No nagging boss is a big plus. The possibility of running my own business in the future is appealing.

The only major drawback for me at this time is meeting women that want to hook up with a trucker. Seems that the gentler sex want someone to snuggle up on a couch with and this job doesn't cut it.

 

I love that video, Indiana Jack! I kind of had those reasons rumbling around in my head, but to hear you list them, man, that's exactly where I'm at too! Thanks so much! I begin training to that end on Monday!

Darn...I was hoping number 1 was going to be for the girls. We all know that's the reason we drive trucks. Women love a man that drives a truck.

I think the chicken lights blind them though. I'm ugly as a sin lol.

 

I need to meet these women. All the women I meet seem to become less interested when they hear how seldom I'm in town. I may have to start fibbing a little...

 

It's just the opposite for me. My ex-wife even encouraged me to join the navy! Could it be my breath?
