Thats an actual company name! Wow. I'm getting really appalled by the stupidity out there. Having to see another name like this is going to make me start consistently bashing my head into a brick wall untill my cranium is a flat and mushy. No wonder us honest guys catch so much #### in the neck.

Well technically, Jerry (Swift) bought Dick Simon and changed the name to Central after they went bankrupt from an accident over 10 years ago and passed the company off to his daughter to keep him off the radar because the government already chewed his ### for monopoly when trying to buy up every company that became avaliable for sale. Do a serach for the Dick Simon thread. I have all the facts in it.

All the facts but the last one. Swift the corporation just bought out Jerry Moyes the person's interest in Central Refrigerated. Swift the company now owns Central.

ok well, there is always 2 sides to every story. yes we were referred by another driver, but when he referred us it was on the reputation of the husband not Cathy. he drove for Brian once before years ago before he was married and his testicles were removed and hung on the mantel in the living room of there million dollar house or she may wear them around her neck on a necklace, not sure there!! however, yes my husband did hit something in the road and it did destroy the oil pan, although I did find out what he hit while I was sleeping in the back, it was a large piece of asphalt that blended in with the road at sunset with the sun in his eyes making to where he had trouble seeing. I'm sure that anyone who has driven anything any length of time would know that right at twilight you can barely see anything especially if it blends in and is the same color as the road. but, besides that the insurance that they are supposed to have on there trucks cover stuff like that. And both employees cannot be charged for what one employee does otherwise there would be no teams out there. I mean who wants to be charged for damage there co-driver does to a truck or if they back into another truck when you are in the back asleep and have no control over the truck or the other driver.
Ok, so now that is 2 federal laws being broke. #1 I'm sure there was insurance fraud #2 the employee is protected by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) against unfair wage garnishments
but that's ok it has been reported to the Federal Wage and Tax Department. And DOT has been informed of them falsifying the log books.
anyways, as far as the dot shutdown it was kind of stupid. Of course my husbands logs hadn't been done for a day or two because he had not been driving until that morning when I could no longer drive because of sleep depravation. I was required to drive a team run solo because he was under Doctor orders not to drive. But, they wanted the load there by 08:00 the next morning going from the NE part of Penn. to Kansas almost 1200 miles in about 19 hrs by one person. REALLY!!! When we got pulled in to scale they fined my husband for his logs not being done and pulled me in to check my logs and they women was being nice to me because I was so tired I could barely function she wasn't going to shut the truck down for ten hours, she was going to let me drive out of there but after looking at me and how tired I was she literally said" Oh Hell NO, I'm not letting that truck move for 10 Hrs" and said that if she had wanted she could have shut us down for 24hrs.
However, I don't really care about being charged for our bus tickets or some of the other stuff. what I do care about is, that my husband and I were belittled by this women, cussed and yelled at by this women and her husband, and being new to the industry taken advantage of.
As for the mattress, we took it out on our first trip home and put in a brand new memory foam mattress($250), we did not steel it. We were going to switch the mattresses back out before leaving the company but did not get a chance to do so. the truck was not a mess when we left it, it did however need cleaned up some since we had had our pitbull with us and she is white and sheds a lot when changing climates. we barely had time to get some of our stuff together (a lot left on the truck) before being taken to the bus station. There was trash that need thrown away but no where to do so where we were or have time to do much else. Although, when we got the truck I had to spend a few hours cleaning it myself and buy all the stuff needed to clean it. It had so much dirt and grim in it that I would not have even let my dog walk through it, the fridge had old stuff in from the last driver that looked like it was growing hair and made me puke when I opened the door.
The name is not catchy. It tells everyone you have a superiority complex. I can't count the number of people we saw at truck stops that laughed at the name talking about how ridiculous it sounded. And the whole thing about all the charges that were taken out. Yes us being new drivers we make mistakes. Everybody does till you get fully established in the job. But when we got hired on it was NEVER mentioned that we would be responsible for fines or anything like that regarding the truck. When these things happened we were NEVER told that we would be the ones responsible for paying them. We didn't find anything out about it till we checked our money card that our pay was supposed to be deposited on and found there was nothing there. Tried to call both Cathy and her husband and all he would say was "talk to cathy"..in which she wouldn't answer our phone calls. we ended up e-mailing her about it to get a response. Then after the second time our check was wiped clean we tried to contact her about it and she never replied back till I had to talk to a lawyer friend about working as a mediator between us and her cuz she wouldn't reply back to us and we kept getting the same response I already mentioned from her husband. The way I see it if the company doesn't answer your calls, doesn't call you back after they missed a call, or doesn't reply to your attempts to contact them in any way..major bad business. not to mention when they say one thing and you go by what they said then they decide to change it to something else, not tell you then change and then get mad at you when you didn't do what they wanted you to do the second time the one they didn't tell you about..we are truck drivers..not mind readers..and yes some of our stuff was still left in the truck because we had planned to go back to work for them after we got checked out..but then after we found out they were taking money from our checks for stuff they didn't tell us till afterwards they were going to take it out for that is when we quit. Trucking is not an easy job and we sure ain't gonna do it for free. And I tried to contact them about having our friend bring down our stuff when they were coming down towards our house and we would send the mattress and fuel card back up with them..all she did was take a snap shot of our post on here that was from when we first quit and replied back with just the picture..and hasn't said a single word back to us about getting the rest of our stuff back..Which includes our equipment from our other profession. The main problem with this company is they tell you one thing and then change their mind. They don't tell you that you will be charged for something and then charge you for it and when you try to reason with them and contact them..they don't answer your calls. And we were so run down because they wanted us to lie on our log books and say we drove say 9 hrs instead of 11. And I would love to know how they plan on you contacting them when your cellphone doesn't get signal and the truck doesn't run with a QUALCOMM in it..I am sure everybody on here knows that no cellphone company picks up in every single location in the US. If there is one please let me know and I will make sure to go to that company..but some of these back woods out of the way places don't get cellphone signal..I mean we both have indian in our blood but that doesn't mean we know how to do smoke signals..and they never teach you a way to contact your company without the use of phone, internet, or QUALCOMM..I dunno maybe we should have hired a carrier pigeon or something.

First off you removed company property from the truck without notifying the owner and getting permission. Easy to say you were going to return it only after BOss Lady called you out on it. Second when you hold a CDL you have to log every day whether you drive or not and have the previous 8 days ready to show any LEO who asks for them. Lastly, I don't know what I want to say. This thread is entertaining!

I might sound like a total prick, but I say it like it is: You, the driving team, need to find a different profession. Period. No one should have to tell you what you're responsible for. When you're fined, YOU are responsible! YOU are responsible for the laws YOU broke, such as not filling out the logs. And what were you thinking driving while sleep deprived?! It's unfortunate that your mothers didn't swallow both of you! You know you could have turned down that run to Nebraska! The DOT was right in shutting you down for 10 hours! I would have shut you down for 24! You better be thankful that I will not be your judge because I would give you jail time! You just accept that new drivers make mistakes? You shouldn't! You should have made sure that you were doing everything right! As for that chunk of asphalt that caused you to smash the oil pan, it was in your best interest to have taken a picture of that spot, but I find it hard to believe that that's what really happened. And you think it's unfair that your wages were drastically garnished?! I would have done the same thing if I were Boss Lady! And even though I don't know what Boss Lady or her husband said when they were cussing you out, but you better believe I would have been nastier than both of them. I really don't want to share the planet's oxygen with you.
This is why I support e-logs.
EDIT: These are commercial trucks we're talking about here, not just some Prius. When they're handled as irresponsibly as you have handled yours, people can die, and YOU would be responsible for it. Sure, handling a Prius irresponsibly can get people killed, but it's much easier to kill someone in a commercial truck than with a Prius because the forces involved a many times greater.
