Radar is great to run in the fog. Especially on two lane mountain highways. The radar still "sees" in the fog and lets you know something is coming long before you can see it. I don't know if I believe your story. First why would anybody be speeding in the fog? Second, radar detectors go off all the time, or used to, I haven't run one in a long time) for various reasons. Could have happened, but it sounds fishy to me. Radar or no radar, people drive way to fast on the interstate when it is foggy and they can't see down road......and I'm guilty of it too.

if you have to ask those questions, I don't know if I believe that you've been driving 24 years.
-
Well I don't really care what you believe. And the only question I asked is "Why would anybody be speeding in the fog"? And I went on to admit they in fact do....at least drive faster than they should in the fog. My whole point is your story sounds like the typical truck driver story....typical meaning made up! And even if the truck driver in fact said that to a reporter, doesn't mean that is what really happened to cause the accident. So if you told the story to be humorous, that's fine, but if you are stating it as indisputable fact, you are just like the "typical truck driver".wore out Thanks this.

i think the ''radar'' being referred to in this story is in fact a police tool, used to capture speeders, or why else mention the pretty blue disco lights, which in fog, would look like they were everywhere, which would also cause everyone to hit their brakes...proven fact about the hitting of the brakes...nearly ran slam over a 4 wheeler the other day for it....coming up on a trooper on the side {well out of the road} perfoming his duty in writing out a ticket,, me in the fast lane where i had been following one of those 5 mile an hour under the posted limit in the ''fast'' lane drivers, all is usual till the driver ahead of me spies the blue lights, freezes, then goes into panic mode, hitting the brakes, slowing down another 10 mph less than she is already driving as i guess she thought the trooper might jump on her hood and give her the citation....human nature...the people they are supposed to trust {police} they are actually scared to death of......these same people aren't in the least bit worried about the stopping distance of an 80,000 pound vehicle traveling at 65 mph as they will without a thought pull out in front of them doing 40 mph, in the rain, slam on brakes, put on makeup, text, eat, read newspapers, etc, etc....no matter if the 80,000 pounds can crush them flat and all the blue lights can do is flash around a bit...

V HUGHES, a quick stop at the cb shop at nearly any truck stop in america will get your cb checked out, usually for free or $5.00, and your problem sounds like a simple one that is a cheap or free fix, like an antennae problem, or adjustment of wire length...in case you are interested

I'll give a report if someone asks for one but I don't ask for one myself.

That's all we ask for, a simple reply when asked
mike5511 Thanks this.
