I've never driven a T-2000 but in watching other driver's maneuver a trailer, I'd say that the Volvo is somewhat better. Of everything I've driven (T-600, 379, 9200, 9900, Century, Columbia, Classic and daycabs), the only tractors that are more maneuverable are the daycabs.tserberis and luvtotruck Thank this.

well just like Henry Ford when he was trying to drum up enough money to build the first American made automobile, He would go to the farmers and others in the area and ask them if they wanted in on his new invention of building an automobile? They would say "That will scare the horses off the road, well I guess if it was up to the horse drawn wagons we wouldn't be driving the modern day trucks we have rtoday.
I may get in an Automatic! I wouldn't think of it as 2 strikes against you. I would be grateful for it! Carry on Driver. -
I was just kidding about the 2 strikes.
The Volvo is the quietest, most comfortable big truck on the market for my money and I have nothing but good things to say about the I-shift transmission. This is a very pleasant truck to drive.

It's ugly, what else do you need to know?

I know you were joking. I have heard that maintenance in the D-XX Engines from Volvo is hard to do, multi filters and so forth? Thanks Phil
that is a given, plastic aero is ugly! Thanks Lonesome! -
I'm not a wrench turner but I never saw anything out of the ordinary. The first one I drove had an ISX and the filter systems on the D series engines appear about the same. Realistically, though, I have no clue.
luvtotruck Thanks this. -
I'm going to sit on top of the Dog House for this. Nothing wrong with any make of truck your desire. Nothing wrong with an automatic. The most fun I have had driving anything was a KW fancy insides. Allison automatic. Front load garbage truck. My 15 over don't overheat. An auto will get fussy in mountains. A manual don't.

Yeah, I turned wrenches a while in my younger days then left that went another direction I finished all there was to acomplish there and have 4 little boogers and now I'm back to trucks but I'm driving them now instead of working on them, I have a couple options, I have the T2000 in Ca. or I have a Volvo 670 with an automatic in LV, Friday the gal(with the T2000) emailed me asking me "What my feelings were about driving team?" I let her know how I felt!
So I may take the gig with the Volvo in LV. We will see. Thanks.

In the older Volvos (pre I-shift), both the Meritor Freedomline & Fuller Ultrashift automatics were offered. The Meritor is a 12 speed and except for a bell & whistle or two, is every bit as good as the 12-speed I-shift. The Fuller is problematic; if they're programmed correctly, they're a good 10-speed. If not, they're a bit of a pain in the butt. They're still better than a manual in rush hour stop & go traffic but not as good as they could be. Good luck.luvtotruck Thanks this.
