The mileage program looks good as far as paid DH miles and refer fuel, not having to fuel the refer twice and easier to calculate but it all lies in where the gross revenue is. If you run 2000 miles on percentage vs 2000 on mileage....the percentage wins out enough to pay for the refer fuel and no pay for DH.....but I need more info to be sure........still workin on it.....

I set my tractor up today...totally cleaned it, mounted my TV, CB radio, packed all my clothes, cooler, tools, made the bed,etc...
I'm ready to go Monday afternoon after a final DOT inspection on the tractor...don't know where I'm going yet ......but I really don't care ...I'll go wherever....

I don't like the fact that you can't switch back... I've been here 4 months and I'm averaging 1.61 per odometer miles since I've been here... My fuel cost has gone up just less than .05 cpm since I switched over from Landstar (reefer fuel) I'm staying with percentage!!!

You're right about the part of not being able to switch back...I'm going to run this way on mileage for a couple of months and see how I do. If I see that indeed % is better, I'll ask about switching back over when I change out my truck with them, probably in early October - gotta get out of this 5.5 mpg monster...(Columbia)...I mean, we have to do a new contract anyway with a new truck, yes? If they say no - then I'll just probably move on. But for now, this is the first week I've run 4 trips so I'll see what the settlement looks like this coming Friday.

Meanwhile, I'm at home this weekend - I had accepted a load from Lakeland to Greeneville SC for 5:30am this morning, which would've meant a fifth trip this week, but I came up about 2 hours short on my 70 to get it there, so they gave it to another driver. I'll say this for them - they sure seem to have plenty of freight, eh?

Try to stay warm in this freezing weather, ok guys? ;)

Good luck Garstein...my advice would be to stay on percentage for awhile and see how you do. The only problem comparing 2000 miles in both plans is that you have a variable cost with the reefer fuel, under the % plan. That makes it difficult to compare apples to apples - but as Delixemodel said, you can certainly track your earnings per mile with % - and I'll do the same under mileage - and then we can compare in one or two months. I have no ego preventing me from saying the mileage was the wrong way to go - if the numbers show that. Meanwhile, good luck - get ready for plenty of freight - most of it heavy - but they'll keep you moving! And enjoy your Volvo, hope it runs well for you.

I updated my july spreadsheet with cpm figures.
I would have done better with the cpm. My figures on jult spreadsheet dont take into account reefer fuel, btw.

    Im way below delixemodel's 1.61----im @ 1.41 all miles.

After 10.5 years of driving I got in my first accident today... Was bumping a dock in GA and rubbed up against a tractor next to me... Rookie move... Sunco is collect $1000 from me (the insurance deductible) but they said my lease won't be terminated... I hope so... Just had to put a cam in my truck... Don't need this right now

That's my average for the 4 months I've been here... I did $1.81 per mile in may... Really brought that average up... I'd say $1.40 - $1.50 is average around here

So sorry to hear it pal...the emotional stress of it is probably much worse than the actual physical damage, yes? Hang in there...it means you won't have another for at least another 10.5 years, ok? BTW, did Sunco insist you put in a cam because of the accident?

they didn't say anything about a camera (I have a dash cam, I don't think they know about it) he just reminded me they will be taking $250 a week for the next 4 weeks for the deductible. And told me I have 30 days to complete an online backing course... The were very understanding about the whole thing. Bone head move on my part, but it happens...

I did that with another company. Took out the left front of a 2010 volvo with my trailer. I found out a new hood for a 2010 volvo costs 10k. I had to pay the $1000.00 also. It happens, I have been doin this 37 years
