You have a few carriers that you are interested in so give their recruiting people a call. Explain the mvr and what you want to do and see what they say. Hiring by carriers is pretty much dictated to by insurance companies. My insurance requires 2-3 years of solid driving experience and a very good mvr. Even if you had the 3 years driving experience, I would not be able to hire you due to the reckless driving charge. My insurance company will NOT approve any driver who has a single speeding ticket of 15 mph or higher, even in a personal vehicle. Most other carriers are in the same situation. You need to contact those carrier who can hire inexperienced drivers and tell them the truth about your driving record before enrolling in driving school. You have a copy of your current mvr so you can fax or email it to them and ask for their feedback. Carriers are required to pull the mvr of all drivers each year. Drivers are also required to disclose any tickets received each year. If you were already a driver and got a ticket for 16 over, even in your personal vehicle, it would likely cost you your job when the carrier found out. This industry has little tolerance for reckless driving behavior. Speeding, following too closely, etc., can end a career very quickly. As long as you can pass the physical, have a clean mvr and work history, you can have a long, successful career driving a truck. It only takes one careless event to lose a job or end a career.

I worked for Schneider from Jan 2013 to April 2013. My MVR showed a pattern of speeding but all of my tickets were more than 3 years old. My recruiter told me it wouldn't be a problem as Schneider is self insured and is willing and able to overlook certain things. Case by case of course. I'd say give them a shot. They were a good company to work for. They don't offer CDL training so you'd have to get one on your own. Good luck!

No it won`t work once being convicted .I tried to do so my self and it didn`t work ..i called a bunch of lawyers and they all said they won`t be able to do it .I even wrote the judge a letter and got denied .it may help taking the points off but the ticket is gonna still show under the MVR .ibtw i tried to expunge it .but they told me only criminal cases get expunged but not civil ones .however ;the best thing for the OP to do is be frank about it upfront on the application .most of the times companies only check the 3 last years of the MVR.best of luck to everyone .

If you already have a CDL, MVR points cannot be removed. The only way those points can be taken off is when the 3 year grace period matures.

On a side note, this is why companies who take on non-CDL newbies have a limit to how many points you can have. I think your CDL privileges get suspended after 6 points, so if you already have 3 or more, you're not giving yourself much leeway.
