I like driving for them, I get dispatched and get left alone. 2800-3000 miles as a company guy. Sometimes I'll be in the right place at the right time and get these 1600-2000 mile runs... sometimes I get peed on and told it's raining... but as far as trucking goes, please let me know if there is a company out there that's almost perfect or at least won't p1ss you off from time to time. I get home when I want to, the truck stays moving, lots of good people on the dispatch/support side, I make more (even at 30cpm) than I have at any other job, etc... and I've met plenty of drivers who quit for another company because they were sick of bs, only to come back. lol

Most everything you have mentioned, I have brought out on this site before. Yes, 26 cents-MS Carriers STARTED new drivers out at that rate in 1992!!!

Also, again, new trucks mean nothing if the pay and miles are not there. You take Benny Whitehead out of Alabama; best looking equipment on the road, but guess what, experienced drivers pay for it at 32 cents a mile pulling his reefers. And, Stevens' head recruiter bragged to a class of new drivers at a trucking school that they will hire over 1100 drivers this year. It was commical as he thought he was impressing everyone (I happened to be taking a refresher course after coming back from overseas) until I said; "excuse me, how many trucks do you have"? I think he said about the same number 1100 or so at the time. Then her realized what a fool I made of Stevens when I said thats over %100 turnover..what is wrong? He then started talking about their nice trucks.

Always keep the back door open.

The companies that are paying higher cents per mile are paying you shortest or practical miles off of a computer. Even the practical miles aren't the actual miles you drive. I've been on both sides of this business a company driver and an O/O (NOT A LEASE PURCHASE DRIVER there's a BIG difference. I've also been a broker. So with getting paid that high cents per mile rate that everybody runs to your actually get shorted out of 15-20% of the actual miles you run which if you do the math your still making the 25-30 cents per mile. Now IF you were getting paid hub miles (for you rookies that means every mile you put on the truck) then yes 38-45 cents per mile is good money. It's not rocket science.

Wow bless you for lasting that long. Stevens Transport is absolutely one of the worst trucking scams out there. I lasted 11 months and they were so pissed off that I would not return they placed three bull crap preventable accidents on my DAC that I did not commit and said I violated company policy. Of course they threatened this when we were first hired at .26 cpm and ran my wheels off.

Wow, things weren't like that when I worked there. But then that was 13 years ago.

Yeah I don't see them charging to transport you to your trainer. They flew me to Amarillo and arranged a cab to take me to the truckstop to meet mine. Didn't cost of a dime.

I've been with them over 6 years. First as a company driver, then a lease driver and now an O/O (yes, the title is in my name...free and clear)
I get as many miles as I want. I haven't had a week under 3,000 miles in at least 4 months and I usually take a couple days off every 10 days or so.
    You earn your stripes...everywhere.
I've driven for 5 different companies over the last 30+ years. Everyone's different. No company fits all.

If they put THREE preventable accidents on your DAC that you did not commit, i'd get a lawyer and become very rich.
They do not put anything on there that doesn't have facts to back it up. Leaves them open for a lawsuit if they put false info on your record.
