So if you have a shipper sealed trailer and have a two, or maybe three day run, how do you get your food out, three times a day?

All you need is a 1000 watt inverter a black and decker mini fridge small micro and 10 foot exstension cord. Your looking at approx. 300 for the set up. Mind has lasted 6 years so far w/ no problems. If I'm using microwave I can't use my tv at the same running all three together overpowers inverter

A net sock called a back pack can be placed through an inspection door. Mesh is a pretty good way to keep food cold. If what you want to eat don't fit inside that door, Scares Me.

Most reefers Dont have inspection doors. Companies stopped using them years ago. My company only had a couple and the doors were cabled shut. The doors are up kinda high, how would you reach down to get what you put inside? Hang it on a rope?Chase05 Thanks this.

My Coleman's plugs gets really hot too. It'll wipe out my 4 batteries in 12 hours to the point the truck won't turn over. I'm getting a real fridge or going with the extreme cooler. Keep the cooler off the hot floor and I'll bet the ice will last longer.
-
Might want to get those batteries checked. Either that, or you've got more drawing on them than just the cooler. The cooler only draws 5 amps continuous. If they're draining in 12 hours from a 5 amp draw, then it's time to get them replaced.
-
Some of those sockets are not made for more than 8 or 10 amps at a time, while other times they are so full of crud that they make a bad connections.
Go and get a real portable fridge meant for the job, an Engle, by the time you spend $200 here or $50 there and the hassle of replacing them or not trusting them, you could make a good investment, take care of it and when you are done sell it for a good price. -
I had an IRP cooler that would keep ice the 4-6 days I was on the road. I've seen tests that kept ice 7-8 days, I've never needed it that long personally though. Expensive as crap, but got the job done. I bought it for camping in the desert more than for the truck but worked nicely in there. I think they run under the Grizzly brand name now ever since IRP went mostly to commercial products. They're still made by IRP though.
I never liked the electric coolers since all they do is cool only so many degrees from ambient temp. I wanted my stuff cold, not cool. I also didn't want to worry about power and batteries. -
The ice cooler is great idea. I want stuff COLD not 50-60ºwater. And then as the ice melts, you have to wash with or clean stuff (if you have to do someemergency laundry) The issue I would is the size of the good ones that keep colder longer. The one I have seen take up more room than our electric coolers we get the Pilot.
The best one I ever had, and cant remember the darm name, loaded from the top, was brown and tan, had a big handle to carry it , looked a giant lunch box,and I think could hold a 12 pack of pop. I had that thing for over a year and not a peep out of it.
