I'll tell ya what. When you own your machine, you can decide whether you want to pull straight in... or leave the front end sticking out waiting for some newb idiot to rip the hood off, and destroy the steer axle.
They can have at my carrier's trailer all day long.

If I'm doing a 34, I will pull straight in. Other than the occasional dog taking a dump, the scenery is usually a lot better.
-
I personally prefer watching horses take a dump, but to each their own.

You couldn't stop for 5 minutes to take a leak, so you pee in a bottle and toss it out the window? But I bet you had more than 5 minutes to stop and get that cup of coffee or soft drink. And people can't figure out why trucking has gone to hell. I bet you also take a dump in a plastic bag and toss it out your window at the truck stop because you don't have time. When I first got started in trucking.. We made time to stop. And go to the head. Think of this.. You stay in your truck all day and don't get out every so often.. You won't have any knees left when you hit 60. And have you ever heard about that little law that states that you have to stop every2 hours or 150 miles to check your load? So you can go then. I'm glad that states like Nebraska and Wyoming got on board and put a big kabash on this pee bottle thing..and now it looks like WalMart got tired of it also , as some of the stores are banning truck parking. And this is some of the drivers of tomarrow .. What's next? I'm sure that the next person to pick up your trailer really would love to know that hey just handled your pee. But just another Me,Me,Me..

You have a very high possibility of hitting another truck when you back out.. And I'm tired of those back outs hitting my truck.. When you go to a shipper or a receiver.. Do you go in forward to the dock?because you have a high rate of others hitting your truck when they back in to the dock.. Just as much as in a truck stop.truckon Thanks this.

i do own my on machine, and I'm not a L/O like some...big difference between pulling in because you made the decision to, and pulling in because you are not unable to back.toostroked Thanks this.
-
Your original statement implied all those who nose-in lack the skill to back-in. So you're not an L/O? What's that got to do with anything?
-
if you read my original post you will see that I said all the NEWBIES, if this doesn't apply to you then you can ignore it, heck even I've pulled straight in ..but I go to the far back where I'm out of the way.
Truck stops are already crowded enough without having to deal with multiple trailer butts sticking in the aisle and making it next to impossible to park next to them at places. ... not to mention how unsafe it is blind backing to get back out. -
That pretty much applies to anything that happens at a truckstop, including when one staggers out of their truck after 11 non-stop hours of driving. Hint: there's a reason why newbs should be required to DEMONSTRATE proficiency in backing BEFORE being turned loose in their own truck. (Hear that FMCSA???)
I personally prefer those strategically located spots that have a nice, long straight approach to pull in, so that one can have a nice long, clear straight back to get out.
Yet another strategy for keeping from being collided with while parked in a truckstop! If they can't get into the spot next to ya, they can't run into ya! Glad ya though of that!!
Agreed. Open yer eyes the next time you try it!truckon Thanks this. -
man that sounds ugly!!! betcha most have done or almost done that one once...okiedokie Thanks this.
