Grants are jokes.. how the heck can you make real money and not drive out of home state? is the gub-erment going to job place us as well? pft !
CA truck shortage would be disastrous to our driving fellows, it would hit the economy so bad with more home repos, car repos, bank transactions as financing, re-financing and all that mumbo jumbo in the state, while making the mega companies and a few O/O earn more income on higher paying freight.
so CA is only hurting itself.
Still a lot of small fleet companies and O/Os would close doors past dec/2013.

I agree. There are lobbyist's behind all this and they are getting paid by These huge companies (SWIFT, JB ####, SCHNEIDER). All i know is, nobody is trying to do anything about this. After a few calls to this CARB agent, he said that they took into consideration the cost of produce and other items increasing, but really are trying to help out the state. Ummm... is it me or are they doing the exact opposite. Unemployment is going to skyrocket, and more and more people are going to be on wellfare. What do you know California, you screwed yourself yet again. As for me, I am forced to buy a newer truck and just run in hopes that its for the good!

Grew up in San Diego. Love the state. The money hungry people in office think I'm a piggy bank that they can use. Moved to Texas. Don't care for it much, but I don't get raped here. Ronald, Arnold, were voted in by the citizens. Your broke, not my problem. Now they want to fine sea going vessels that come into Cali waters that are not using low emission diesel. I just shake my head.

And immediately around school etc--yeah climb big hill in urban area in traffic w/newer (already hotter runnin eng)traffic and w/fan screaming and engine temp bout 210 or so just cut it off immediately--Please let me know how THAT works out for ya:D

You have to go into a dealership and ask for a application for a voucher (aka Grant) tell them what year truck you have. They will tell the deadline. I looked right at the letter from CARB to Peterbuilt, 04-06 engine year good until Dec 2014. Of course CARB will not post this on their website. The website still says 96-2000 engine year was no good in 2012, but everyone has a certificate for them.

    Boardhauler Thanks this.

Hence the widening of the Panama canal. Foreign shippers will go else where.
