I live in vegas I used to drive for Roehl Transport good company and hometime home almost every weekend if I wanted to be plus one of the best training programs for you to learn flatbedding now there are two smaller companies trueline and pan western that are out of vegas but I hear there a little on the lower paying side . Also Central Oregon trucking hires out of vegas all I know of them is a lot of tarping and the company pays 100% benefits out of vegas is tough cuz a lot of company's don't hire drivers from vegas
-
thank you wheelman, i was thinking about Roehl. can u give me some pros & cons of Roehl
-
I thought they were a good company I was known by name had an open door policy I knew my fleet manager and load planner personally I even got through their home terminal and bullshited with the owner of the company was able to walk right up to his office that was a big pro and what I liked the most also they have some of the best equipment and newest trailers theirs no waiting on gold for hours trying to get repairs made the pay was top pay in the industry I was making 42cpm with my experience they kept me moving pretty good if your looking to be home every weekend than the miles won't be bad should get about 1500 miles a week though you do tarp I'd guess 70% of your loads but your paid to tarp and untarp they also pay detention pay if your at a place longer than two hours they start paying you for every hour after 2 hours they also pay layover pay if you do sit longer than 24 hours and a little trick if you can get within a 50 mile radius of your receiver and do a 34 hour reset you get paid lay over pay for your 34 hour reset not many Roehl drivers know that they also have a lot of drop and hooks you hardly stay with they same trailer longer than a week or so
Now cons they are a bigger company and they prefer to have all schedule matinace for the trucks and trailers done in house this was never a problem for me until they expanded their western region fleet witch your home terminal would be Phoenix Arizona at first it was in and out in the same day or within a couple hours now it could take 1 to 2 days to get you in the shop other terminals are even worse from what I've heard they also try and mico manage you the computer in the truck they can tell where you are what gear your in how fast your going if you slam on your breaka they know or take a corner to fast they know .... they are huge on "Safety"and if they think your not being safe they get rid of you if its something recurring problem trucks are governed at 63mph on the peddle and 61mph on cruise control they also keep track of all your stats like idel time, cruise time, out of route miles , late deliveries they want you to keep in their project number range you have to follow their routing anf fuel where they want and put in as much fuel as theu tell you example sometimes they might tell you only to put in 30 gals of fuel or other times they'll tell you to fill up if you can do things their way they reward you and you'll like it their if you don't do things the way they want most ppl won't last either quit or get let go
And if your wondering I only left cuz I bought my own truck and I did leave them one other time before that just to end up coming back 6months later and if I lose my truck ill try and go back with them if I ever do go back as a company driver -
Hope that helps I know theres also some pretty good threads with current Roehl drivers that could give you more info with them I haven't worked there in over a year so things could change
