How many suspensions do you have, and how old are they?

Don't take this the wrong way, it sounds like you're implying more than 1 suspension, with more than 1 unpaid ticket. It does matter. Having a couple of tickets will matter, having a couple of unpaid tickets leading to a suspension will really matter. It shows a level of irresponsibility, and negligent driving. With that kind of history you'll have a hard time finding a company that can insure you.

But there maybe someone who know's better than me that can ofer you some support.

Well as you know suspensions show up on your drivers record...DMV

Depending on the points that you have, would be a big question for any trucking co.

At the very least in the future, answer the summon's.If you have a moving violation don't be so quick to plead guilty to the charge. Most law enforcement officer's will agree to plead down your ticket to a non-moving violation. This happens quite often, but only if you were respectable toward's the officer when you receieved the ticket.A bad attitude and you might see,N,D. written on the ticket. It stand's for no deal. This means the charge stays as what was written on the summon's.Non-moving violation's,a hiring company might accept those, but moving violation's and not showing up for court,it's proably going to hit your record hard.Today, even not paying a parking ticket or some bill going to a collection agency can effect your chances of getting hired.Trucking companies have access to your health, your credit history, background and DMV record. We look at as a way to pay the bill's,they look at as liability and other legal issues.A long time ago, when I started in 1980,oldtimers used to say trucking ain't what it used to be.2008,I'd have to say the same thing.

Michigan is populated by people who have had their license suspended at least once for failing to pay tickets.

I'm not sure how companies decide who, and who not to hire. I know when I looked at applications for companies it always asked how many tickets, and have you been suspended. In the qualifications you'll normally read something about maximum number of tickets allowed in so many years, and no suspensions within 7, and with some 10 years. Now this is the bigger companies I'm referring too. Smaller companies may be stricter because of higher insurance costs, or they may be less strict.

I guess the only way to know for sure is for this person to contact the companies their interested in and ask them directly. They may make their decision on a case by case basis.

I would also suggest doing a search on this website. I've seen this question a few times on here. In fact my second post on this site was about a my suspended license I got for failure to provide insurance to a the DMV after I hit a deer. I didn't get the the notice to send in my proof because I moved and it was a non-forwarding document. I didn't find out I had a suspended license until I applied to be a Louisville police officer. Talk about awkward.

Here is an overview of my MVR:
Failed to answer summons suspension from 2/10 to 3/10:biggrin_25510:
Failure to answer summons suspension 5/1/10 to 5/19/10:biggrin_25510:
And from 5/2004 to 9/2007 my license was suspended for child support.I am looking to get into trucking but was turned down by Driver's solutions and CRE.Are there any companies that would be willing to hire me.Or should I pack it in and try a different trade

Spend a few coins and get your own MVR from your State, then you will see what they see.
