Here's a question... when was the last time you saw anyone win a NASCAR race, stand on the door of his car, do a backflip, and get up on the winner's podium wearing BOOTS?
They are professional drivers.... but they don't wear boots.
They wear professional driving shoes.... narrow, with a low profile, no welts to catch in the pedals, and a close rocker heel that places the fulcrum for pedal control very close to the heel.
Steel toed work boots? I don't think they meet ANY of those design qualifications.
I DRIVE with driving shoes, designed much like race car drivers use (but well ventilated for maximum comfort in hot temperatures). If a shipper requires I wear a boot, I have a pair ready to lace up when I arrive. -
Safetstep brand lightweight shoes excellent durability used them as a medic just a heavier version boot.
Or my barefeet if I feel like driving in me undies

Were all thinking it, so im just gonna be the first jerk to point it out...there are some major discrepinces between driving a nascar at 150mph around a track, and driving a 80,000 pound truck at 60 mph down the highway....
-
... while certainly there are differences between driving a truck and driving a NASCAR at 150+ mph, there are a lot of similarities. Both use pedals for controlling braking and acceleration. Both require sometimes fine control of those pedals.
