Most companies just contact ADP anymore. ADP does about everyone's payroll.

OK work history means just that your work history, so it does not mean driving work history or CDL work history but work history -

    383.35 Notification of previous employment.

.(c) The following employment history information for the 10 years preceding the date the application is submitted shall be presented to the prospective employer by the applicant:

Most companies don't contact ADP, ADP does not do payroll for everyone, it does it for only a limited amount of companies and ADP isn't allowed to tell any info about a customers payroll specific without the customer's permission.

They would call the company on your application or make you sign an affidavit attesting to your employment status at that time.

Many companies hand this work out to an outside company who does the calling and background checks.

Give them what they ask for. If the application states a 10 year work history, then give them a 10 year work history. Include every job, driving or not. Better to be honest on the app than to be fired later.

If you have a less than desirable work history there are services that will help you provide one. Sites like therefrencestore.com and others will give you a new employment background. It's awful the way companies discriminate against people who have been out of work, there have even been bills introduced in congress to make this practice illegal, but Republicans have stopped them so far. I know to lie about your work history is frowned upon - but if it's a decision between telling a lie or being homeless I would live every time. Look into websites and services that help people with a spotty work history. Everybody deserves a second chance.

Motor carriers are required to have a 10 year work history and check at least the last 3 years. If you have not worked during that time or been in school, you still need to account for the time. Not all carriers check 10 years back, but we are still required to have the record in a file. Although, some carrires may check, they can check back further should they find something that they don't like.

You got your class c or class a ? You're 25 so you probably won't have a 10 year work history which is common sense and shouldn't be an issue. You'll have to go to a truck driving school and get a class A license if you want to be a truck driver.
