Hey ALL, I have a very peculiar problem with my 2001 Century. When I turn on my A/C switch the A/C condenser gets cold but the heater core also gets hot. Hence all I get is hot air from the system.
Initially I put the truck in the shop... thinking maybe there was a leak somewhere? But after they tested the system (results were normal), then evacuated it and recharged it... its doing the same thing... blowing HOT air. Yesterday we removed the dash panels and found that the heater core was running with the A/C switch on.
Here's my question... how is this possible? And how do I fix it?
Thanks for reading.

Your blend door is stuck
-
put a manual shut off in the hot water line, or fix the blend door.

ok thanks dude6710 and jborque. I looked all over for a blend door when we had the dash apart yesterday but could not find it. Where should it be?
Today I went ahead and bypassed the heater hoses and problem solved! -
You should have shut off valves for all heater hoses on the engine. I shut mine off in the summer, just as a routine thing.
-
I may be a lil blind... where exactly are the shut off valves?
-
The shut off valves will be in the lines going to the heater core somewhere, different places depending on engine & model of truck. Just follow the hoses from the firewall throught the engine compartment & you should be able to find them if it has them.
