    No doubt!

Education and interest is key for four-wheelers and truckers to see the world through each others eyes.

I work in traffic and I monitor hundreds of cameras around central Florida (among many other things). I see great drivers and unwise drivers on both sides. When drivers communicate while driving and drive wisely, only bad luck or lack of vehicle maintenance seem to cause accidents. It's when folks seem distracted, emotionally in high gear, or what not that we see bad and unnecessary things occur.

There is one thing I haven't yet seen (and I hope I never do) and that's a trucker texting while operating. Bad enough some four-wheelers do it. Talk about a very bad accident waiting to happen.

    God bless and drive safe,
    Cub

The problem is that this is rarely mentioned in any kind of driver's ed! It should be in all drivers' ed in all schools and anyplace that teaches driving! :biggrin_25516:

I've never heard any of this until much later in my driving experience! Maybe 10 years or more. Who knows how many 'sins' I've committed against truckers! Heck I've been to one of those 'safety classes' (for doing an illegal u-turn in my car... hey, I didn't see the sign, and still don't know where they are today!) and they never touch any of this. All they talk about is the danger of drunk driving.... :biggrin_2554:

Most likely this is because of the truck manual transmission! With so much shifting to be done, both hands are busy at all times! We might see this more often when truck switches to automatic transmission! Them idle hands, you know... :biggrin_2559:

Ha ha ha! BGatot, you've got the right of it! Maybe they ought to start making four-wheelers with ten gears?

And you're right about the education.

    God bless and drive safe,

Ok,if you're gonna make a 10spd car, make it a twin stick just so I don't have to worry about half of them getting out of the drive way!!:smt023

One of the largest companies around here Mike worked for had the trainers texting constantly while driving. Of course, they'd look up at times and incorrectly see what was going on and that's what happened to Mike. Such idiots!! Why isn't texting while driving illegal?

At least if you're using a hands free device and talking, your eyes are constantly on the road, not on your phone.

I can't imagine texting and driving even in an automatic car, you have to look at the screen so often. Stupidity, if you ask me. :biggrin_25513:

I can't text and drive at the same time cause the buttons are too small to see.I've tried walking and texting just to see how that goes, and now I have to replace a couple of things my wife owns cause I knocked them off a table and they broke,so no way can I text and drive.I don't even think a qualcom would be much easier.By the way I seen a JB driver going down the road one day and his qualcom was zip stripped to his step.Out of curiosity I asked him why,he said because they kept messaging him while he drove but they knew it didn't work while he drove so that's how he fixed the beeping niose.Very creative but I had to remind him, cause he was concentrating on driving so much, that it had just started raining 5miles back. After cussing a little he said thanks and just kept on going! Do they really beep that loud or is there a volume button on those things still? Anyway,I'd hate to explain the damaged keyboard to my company!:biggrin_2555:

I like those on pickup trucks, especially old ones. They look kinda funny on newer ones.
