The law is you need to disclose 10 years of work history. Your prospective employer needs to verify the previous 3 years. Some employers are anal and will verify more the 3 but by law they only need to do 3. So if you arent sure about exact dates and addresses and phone numbers for anything past 3 years ago dont worry about it too much. Just make it look good on paper.

The law linked to by the OP only requires
so it only requires commercial driving jobs.
An employer can require any additional information that they want beyond that but the law only requires driving jobs be reported over the last 10 years.mje and PurpleMama Thank this. -

I have been self employeed for over 10 years. I have tax returns. I hope thats good enough....
NavigatorWife and mje Thank this. -
Whether you worked at a public job, were in school, unemployed or anything else, you will be required to account for your last 10 years. For those who are self employed, tax returns should be sufficient. If you had a CPA or attorney with whom you worked, then you may want to get a letter from them as well. It is usually a good idea to ask any potential employer what they need to verify employment before going to orientation. The last thing you want to do is get to orientation and them ask for some sort of verification or documents that you don't have remote access.

There is no right to a specific job, the practice of discrimination doesn't exist unless you want to make this out in your mind. Providing 10 years of work history isn't an issue for anyone, no excuse can be used for hiding things like employment gaps, I for one never ever had an issue with it and I have a lot of little gaps. As far as it being political, it isn't, no one should expect to be hired or even be explained why they were not hired.
remember this is a regulated industry, we have to deal with two levels of laws, one state and one federal. Many employers don't care who they hire to get the job done but both state and federal law makers want to make sure that the "right" people are hired so we have to put up with this regulation as stupid as it can be. -
Well there is a BIG difference between being a murderer, as opposed to just being a guy who hasn't had a job in a year or two.
And unfortunately, most murderers, rapers, and especially burglarers eventually get out of prison and then what do you want them to do when they get out? If they can't get a job what do you think they are going to do? Yep - come rob your house for a bite to eat. -
it is the opposite 3 years work history for new drivers
up to 10 years for drivers if you have been driving that long -
