Working on an engine swap from a detroit 8v92 to a 3406 in a w900a, the old pump off of the detroit has one large supply line and two pressure lines one that goes to the hydraulic cylinder under the battery box and then the other runs back into the resivor, I assume this pump has a bypass in it that sends fluid back to the tank when you aren't turning.
The pump on the cat is the same pump, it just has the bottom port plugged and only one pressure line, will this pump still work properly if I install the fitting off of the detroit pump into the bottom port.
Power Steering Questions.

Most systems will work like this big low pressure supply from res to pump. High press line from pump to left steering box. Left steering box to right box or cyl. high press line from right box or cyl to return on res. I am quite sure that is the system flow.

on second thought feed line from left box goes to right side the from right box or cyl back to a tee fitting on left box and line back to res.

As I said there is only one pressure line that connects to the cylinder and the other goes right back into the resivor, there is a return off of the cylinder that also returns into the resivor. There are no lines going to the steering box. I gonna go out on a limb and say that this is an assist cylinder and not true power steering.
