What I can tell you after going through the process of being accepted at my new company is this. I had an outstanding record of employment since 1983 thru 2011, holding only three jobs during that period. I had never been fired from a job in my life, and have no problem with having them contact any of my prior employers. I have a clean driving record, and no misdemeanor or felony convictions ever. In 2011, I left my job of nine years on good terms to care for my 87 yr old mom, who had dementia issues and had a hard time even answering a phone or changing the channels on the TV. With all of the positives I have going for me, I really had to sweat out that doggone two year gap. Trucking companies may hire you, but those gaps will be a problem that anyone entering the industry may have to deal with, so it is something to keep in mind, and may reduce the number of companies that will hire you ulitimately.
