Will Prime accept a sleep study that is done at my doctor? I was thinking about getting one done anyways, but if Prime will accept it, that will give me one less thing to worry about. I meet some of the "standards" for someone that has sleep apnea, just no symptoms. I am 270 pounds, but only 17% body fat. My neck is right at the 17 inch mark, and my bmi is 37. Thanks for any info.

Call them and ask! I have read something in here about Prime doing their own studies and from those results they either buy you a Bus Ticket or send you on though training. Good Luck!.
mje Thanks this. -
When I was there they would accept the study done by a doctor as long as it met their "standards". If you have your own machine or needing one you should look at getting them before going to prime. Its not pretty when you buy things from prime. Very expensive, they make their money off financing machine for you.

Yea. I figured if nothing else, at least I'll know if I have it before I go. I like to be prepared for as much as I can. lol

I was looking at Prime last year because of looming lay offs at my current job. So with good insurance I went and had myself tested even though I did not think I had it. Turns out I have a fairly severe case of apnea and have been on a bipap for a year now.
Oh, the lay offs have not hit me yet, but we will see.

If you do this on your dime and are positive, you will have to be under treatment and show enough use to satisfy their standards... before you go. If you get it done at orientation, then you'll just get the sleep test there, and need to be under treatment going forward.
You should definitely find out about how they will view your sleep test and treatment before you go.
That's right, because it's up to the carrier right now since there are no federal standards yet. Do you know the history on this at Prime? A driver with many years of experience at another carrier fell asleep at the wheel and slaughtered a family... ran a red light and nailed their car. He was found to have severe sleep apnea- and of course, there was a mongo settlement paid to the surviving family members. Prime's insurance carrier demanded that they introduce a sleep apnea program that MET THEIR STANDARDS.
Really? How is it that you "are buying things from Prime?" They contract to a third-party sleep clinic. Sleep Pointe. Look 'em up. I believe you'll find they have nothing to do with Prime except for the contract to do the studies- and Prime provides them with a facility in the terminal for the convenience of their employees. That's so you don't have to get in line and wait for MONTHS after you have left a job to drive in order to get that sleep test done.
Yeah, it is. Everywhere except on Ebay. No telling what kind of bugs are lurking in one of those high-quality used machines. After Joe Dirtball get's done using one, it's doubtful he cleans it up before sending it to you. Wonder where his mouth was before the last time he used it?
And you KNOW this how?
