Take half of your down payment cash to Vegas, if you can double it, then come back & decide on a truck. If not take it as a sign to avoid all of them. The biggest risk on any of the trucks listed is the emission systems & they are all a roll of the dice. Much akin to Vegas & about the same odds.
Are you sure they discontinued the T660? Would have thought KW would have made an announcement as the series stems from the T600 & has been a mainstay truck. I get that the T680 is the replacement, just thought it would have been down the road another couple years or so?

That's what a major Kenworth dealer told me this past weekend, saying he only found out that Thursday from an email from Paccar corporate. Indeed, they haven't announced it publicly yet.
-
Sounds like a scam to try and sell more 680's. Why would kenworth discontinue one of their best selling trucks? Think about it. I have seen way more 660's than any of the other models. Just like the rumor that I heard about how they were going to stop making the W900's after model year 2012. Well guess what they are still rolling into the dealership today along with a lot of new T660's so don't believe what you hear.
-
Interesting. I will call him tomorrow and ask about the T660. He did indeed say that Kenworth wants T660 prospective buyers to move to T680 instead. Also, he said that current models of T680 have worked out all their quirks and problems. He doesn't seem to be a "used car salesman" type, but go figure I guess.
-
I don't see that happening. Sounds like somebody is trying real hard to sell a 680. The t660 is way too popular to dump off the production line.

7mpg us equals 8.4mpg canadian, take a us gallon and times it by 1.2 to get imperial hes from canada so im guessing his 8 mpg is really more like 6.7 a us gallon
-
LOL! Great job!
-
Pete sales guy in Sauget, IL confirmed the same today about the 386. Both that & the 660 are out(& no longer taking orders) in favor of the 579 & T680.
-
That makes perfect sense since PACCAR is really duplicating models lately. In fact, I can't keep track of how many different plastic aero trucks they are building these days.
-
Well at least two of their aero models aren't plastic....the 579 & 680 have aluminum cabs now.
