Ok Im very confused and maybe someone can help enlighten me.
Im going to Trucking school in mass but I live in NH, They say I need a NH permit but I couldnt get a straight answer from the DMV about the permit. I don't think NH does the permit thing. The lady at DMV said it would cost 60 bucks for it. That makes no sense because the actual CDL license is the same price.
Can anyone with experience in the NH permit area help me figure this out? Thanks!
If it matters Im going for my CDL-A
New Hampshire CDL learners permit?

I will tell you what it was like when I got my license.
The "permit" is just going to the DMV and passing the written exams. At that time, assuming you pass, the road test is scheduled. Once you have your "permit", you can drive with a licensed driver in state only.
So basically, the "permit" is just the paper saying you've passed all the written tests, but you cannot drive out of state. So I'm guessing it would do you no good in MA.mje Thanks this. -
Kinda sorta right, You do need to pass the written test in NH so you can get your Green card. You will also need your DOT MED card as well. I'm fairly sure you can study and drive at NETTTS and when it comes time to test, you "will" do that in NH thru NETTTS. That kinda how I did it. I already had my NH cdl but needed an A and used NETTTS to do that. You can get the NH Commercial Drivers Manual for free, study it to get ready for your test. The written CDL test is a walk in and take it. But if you fail any part of the test, you will have to wait 10 days before you can test again. Good Luck.mje Thanks this.

Ok its starting to make more sense to me. I happen to be going thru nettts to get my CDLA, I already acquired my Med card.
So basically I will be doing the written test portion of the CDLA license then after I graduate Nettts I can finish the rest of the CDL tests, Pre trip and driving test.
So If I pass the written test now I wont have to do it when it comes time to get my license? Is that how it goes. or will I have to do a written test again all over.mje Thanks this. -
You have to take and Pass your written test BEFORE you can do anything that involves driving out of State. You can do your studies at NETTTS and test with the trucks in the learning lot, but you cant drive on the road in Mass without your Green Card.
You can drive in NH "if" you have a rider/trainer that has the correct license for the vehicle your driving, Dont need the green card for that, Again only in NH.
However you Have to have your Green card before you do the final testing. And your Green card is only good for 1 year.mje Thanks this. -
So I will only have to do the written test once as long as I pass it? I wont have to do it again when Im ready to do the rest of the testing?mje Thanks this.

Right, as long as you pass for your CDL within 1 year.
Talk with NETTTS and ask how they help students from NH, they get them all the time.mje Thanks this.
