You should see my nose sticking out with a tri-axle truck and a 48' step with a spread. I'm actually shorter nosing in then backing in. Even if I have a 53' step deck on.

Really? A few extra seconds? If they lack backing skills and attempt to back in in a "few extra seconds", some damage is going to occur. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you don't want some people trying to back if there is an alternate option. That "few extra seconds" will cost somebody a few days lost time trying to get his truck in the shop and a loaner while his hood or mirror gets repaired. If they can "pull in", more often then not they will end up regretting the decision, so let them go. They'll do it on occasion but will come to understand it's not a good idea to do all the time.

If these are experienced drivers doing this (I don't think they are typically) then I don't know what to tell these morons. It takes all kinds, I suppose.

Well I guess Idle Aire didn't show you a thang! OMG I used to hate backing out of those when it was the wee hours and dark..ugh
But I'll have to agree with Coastie on this one..Im guilty too,but I'm far from lazy..If I pull into a truckstop and there is ONE SPOT LEFT and its either pull str8 in or take the chance of doing a u'e and losing it to the SHMUCK that cut you off while trying to get in..you betcha brotha, she's a going in!
But I also like my privacy, and not having super trucker next to me breaking his neck to see..uh,what..a female driver..."we'll I neva" lmao... That way all the lights are not shining on me and I can leave my curtains up and soak up a bit of culture...Hee Hee
But my arse end has never hung out,and it's always a str8 shot back..no trucks or anything else behind me...

I always back in with the exception of a muti day layover. I make sure to find a stop where im NOT sticking out, but if im there for more then one night i don't want to hear the engine next to me all week-end while on a 34 hour reset. I dont idle much and hate noise. If i pull in though I am sure to get a spot where I dont stick out and I leave when the truck stop isnt busy and I back out very carefully. I never get a spot near the fuel island where I'd be backing into heavy traffic. Also, I own my truck but not my trailer. Since i have been hit several times by idiots backing, I would prefer they hit the company trailer instead of my truck. So basically more then one night i park backward in the back of the lot in a long spot where i wont stick out.

Would you rather have SWIFTY blindside his trailer into your sleeper or the rub rail on your flat bed?

If you said rub rails, pull straight in.

The ones that have 10 feet of trailer out in the road does'nt know how to pull in the the correct way how they suppose to know how to back in?I wouldn't pull in unless I know for sure I can get out.Ive had more idiot drivers wake me up because they cant get out.If they would have used their brain rather then sitting on it,common since would have said park the right way idiot.

I've nosed in one time. Late at night in Texas and it was the last spot available. Figured if I circled around so I could back in the space would be gone. Woke up and I couldn't get backed out.

Last time I ever did that stupid move.
