As long as you pull all the way in you should not take any more space than backing in, the truck is still the same length no matter which way you are facing. That being said, I used to pull in when I ran a car hauler so that my weed burner exhaust didn't bother the driver next to me, but I would not pull into a parking spot if it was in a middle row for fear of a truck backing into the front of my truck, especially if I had a car hanging off the roof rack. Even when I didn't have a car hauler I still pulled in for privacy but only if it was a back row space again so no one would back into my hood. I can see you being able to back in a little tighter in the back row since you can put the tail of the trailer over the curb, unless you have a low trailer like a car hauler or other specialized hauler, but even then it is not that much of a difference and this only works in the far back row or side rows.

Most of us with 53 footers back 5+ feet over the curb depending on tandem setting.luvtotruck Thanks this.

If I was a company driver it wouldn't matter but I'm not and I don't feel like wasting time for a repair and been down a few days. If the company trailer gets hit it only requires a hr or two worth of patch work then its good to go. I do pull in when I'm 100% sure that I can back out at any given time and not have to wait until spots around me are empty. I always leave myself an out regardless of how I park. I never park in the corner spots where i can trap another driver or myself. Besides I pull a reefer, so I try to give others a break (when possible) just like I need a break from others who idle like they own their own fuel company.Father Luke Thanks this.

You also have to hope that if you pull into a spot in a middle row that some idiot doesn't back into your grill from the spot in front after the previous truck leaves. You also won't be able to open your hood if you have to unless the truck in front moves

When I was a rookie I nosed in to a spot in the Love's at SLC, It is a really small lot, there was a lot of room at the time. My dad, who is with a different company, pulled in an hour later and backed up into the spot next to me, First thing he says is "You really ###### up, How you getting out?" I laughed at him, Really early the next morning I had to have him back it out for me, It was REALLY embarassing. I won't nose in unless it's a straight shot out, then only as a last resort. Dad never said anything about helping me, but lesson learned.

I pull in with my trailer tail extended because I'm a jerk.
Shaggy Thanks this.
