My first priority if I have to park for a 10 at a truck stop is to find a spot on an end to nose in. The spot has to have a straight shot back and not block anyone if my 53' extended hiney sticks out, otherwise I resign myself to backing into a slot and putting up with all the weenies that have to idle their trucks all night to pretend they are at home.

The day they enforce a true no idle policy in a section of a truck stop is the day I'll back in each and every day.

The worst is when you pull in to get some quiet and some jerkwad pulls in beside you and runs at high-idle or has a reefer going.... yes, I've had this happen several times.

I dunno, when I pull in it's usually in the back row on the ends so pretty simple to back out even though you can only expect some dooshbuckle to zip out right behind you while backing. I also generally only park at truckstops with spacious lots anyways, I wouldn't back or pull in at some little Pilot or such if I could help it.

I'm sure some people think it means I can't back when I pull in, awww shucks, I'm so embarrassed.

Wow. I didn't think that suggesting people shouldn't drive exhausted would be a bad thing. Strange crowd of professionals here sometimes.

Cant back out but you can pull straight out? Sometimes you need three or four shots at it but if it would go out foreword it will go out backward.
Have any of you ever seen that guy who can back blindside (in high range) around two turns with two inches on each side without getting out of the truck, tires squealing, while talking on a cell phone and typing on his laptop? Thats me.
Most of the trucks I drive have mirrors, some even have doors that open so I can GOAL (even tho I never need to).

Maybe a vet driver should get a swift job and then go to ts and back in impossible places. Yeah that would be cooler.

i tried one time too nose it in, i don't know how drivers can sleep that way, sure it was quite and peaceful and stuff, but after a hour i back out slowly and flashers, why, because this truck stop had the parking lot angle the slots toward the rear , making me feel like i was rolling out the bed all the time lots times i get in late and if your not there by 3 pm in the afternoon you don't get a spot been that way for years, so anymore i try too just park at shippers and recs and makes me wonder if you cant back into a truck stop slot ,how are you backing up at the shippers and recs ill show a pic he told me were to park, and some my pics were i had too back thru, the open dock was too the left of this open door behind this wall of shelving and i had 8 foot wide too back thru all the scraps on both sides of me :biggrin_25524:
