Hi all I have a question about recap. I have been always driving solo and normally I would run out of 70 hours in a week. So now I'm teaming with a buddy off mine and I'm just curious is it the 8th or 9th day when you picking your hours I'm really confused. I read in one of there other posts thtat it's 8th day when u picking up hours but how could it be possible when you are given 70 hours to drive 8 days. So I would think it should be 9th day to pick up hours I might be wrong. I did read a few other posts I couldn't find a proper explanation some assistance here would be much appreciated thank you.

You pick up hours used on your 1st day on the 9th day. So yeah, after 8 days of running you start gaining back your hours on day 9.

Simple solution...start your 2nd log book!!! Lmfao. Alright on the serious note recapping isn't really as hard as it sounds even when running team if you do it right. When I team we work 12 hour shifts. 12 on 12 off. Weather you get 11 hours driving or spend 11 odnd, and an hour driving at the 12th hour you hit the bunk. And I take over or visa versa. That's how we run it. You will run out of hours on day 6 doing it that way if you log straight 12s or you can do an 8/2 split on days 6 and 7. Run 8 hit the bunk for 8 while your swapper takes his 8 and then hit the road for 2 and then swap for 2 and then your off for 24 on your 8th day and you'll pick up 12 hours on midnight on your 9th day. Recaps are complicated at times. You can run 11 hour shifts but you still burn up a lot of clock because you actually ejd up working 14 hour days. So we always did 12s. There's also the 3/2/8 split you can do but that confuses the hell out of the bears. And when they get confused instead of looking at the regs, they start writing fines. Also makes for a messy log. That's why we run 12s on driver logs noon to noon the other is on midnight to midnight. Everything is nice and neat and looks good.

At midnight on the 8th day is when you start getting hours back that you worked on day 1. Midnight of the 8th day/beginning of the 9th day which ever way you want to look at it

You got it! Always have to remember it is at midnight of the 8th day. Example for me, 8/20/2013 I only used 3h 27minutes, today is the 8th day so at midnight tonight I get those 3h 27m back
