Am wondering if any of you guys and girls know the formula( think i spelled that correct) for how the weekly fuel mileage report is figured out ? Just curious as to how they come up with it every week. Never been explained to me and if it has i just don't remember. Just something i'd like to do for myself although it was provided..

It's taken from your ECM and goes from midnight central Friday - Friday. You can track it yourself by resetting your mpg on Friday when you stop driving or Saturday before you start. If you want a more accurate representation of your true fuel mileage, you need to right down your odo and gallons everytime you fill up and divide them yourself. Prime, and pretty much all major carriers go by the ECM, but its not real accurate.

There's a whole section on prime here where you can find info / ask questions.

it is figured out based on your fuel purchase and your traveled miles in each state. Now Let say you drove on I-40 From the NM state line to the OK Sate Line That is 176 Miles Now you Owe The State of TX 176 miles Divided By Your Truck Fuel Mileage Let's Say 6 MPG = 29.3 Gallons you owe the state of TX.
You either buy 29.3 Gallons in TX or pay the tax on 29.3 Gallons in this case the tax would be around .20 CPG So .20x29.3=$5.87 for those miles but some of these Flaky Carriers will try to do it as a fleet report so they can steel money from the owner op accounts to pay for there greedy sonza beech Company trucks road fuel tax and they take advantage of people.I bet you they made darn sure you knew how to get your freight bill signed but when it comes to your income statement they brush right through that. The best way to find out if you have been had is. To keep records every week on a small note book. How many gallons you bought VS How many miles you drove.Hope that was helpful

First, the OP is a company driver who isn't responsible for IFTA tax... the ECM report does affect his fuel bonus though. Yup, even the company guys should check their mileage, because the ECM can be off... but remember your APU is drawing from the same tank. Bigox3k... if you see a big difference, let RA know so you can get it into the shop and have it taken care of.

Second, Prime doesn't screw the lease and owner-ops. For these guys, the fuel purchases, tax payments etc are detailed each week on the settlements, and the IFTA calculations are included monthly with your individual fuel economy calculation included. The independent contractors fuel where they like, and can take advantage of the state fuel tax rates to lower their costs.

Prime encourages ALL of the ICs to take their ACE-II class, and even pays them to do it. One of the things they spend quite a lot of time on is how to use IFTA tax to your advantage to lower your costs. No one gets "had" here, unless they stick it to themselves.

ChuckTaylor detailed it one one of the other threads... "Ask your questions about Prime" perhaps? It's based on getting above the 7.5 mpg level (it's been awhile so I may be wrong) - and that gets you 0.1-cpm per mile for all miles. Each 0.1 mpg above that get's you another 0.1-cpm on the fuel bonus.

Like I said... it's been awhile since I was on the company side, but I believe that's accurate. Spend some time reading the lease thread well before you make a decision on the jump!

Yeah, that sounds about right. IP labeled it correctly. .1 cpm is equal to $0.001. The increments the fuel bonus moves per .1 mpg.

We were always told "up to 4 cpm ($0.04) fuel bonus" Well a number of us have busted that with upwards of 6 cpm for getting 9 plus mpg.

its been quite a while since they moved the goal posts or shifted the payouts. It used to be that if you didn't make the minimum company mpg, there was no bonus. While the minimum is stated at 8mpg, Prime's fuel bonus starts paying at 7.5.

I got 10.7 on one tank earlier this week. 153 gallons. Fueled in Amarillo, drove to Denver via US 287. Next load was from Ft Morgan and didnt fuel till Dexter Michigan. QC reset the data after deliver in Denver, but I got a pic of 1200 some miles at 10.7 from 115 gals used off the QC.

Last 2 weeks my reports were 10.10 and 8.91.
