As one who has considered leasing for several reasons - I am a 'numbers' guy, have a light right foot, don't care about governed trucks, use a cruise control because it gets better mileage than I do, want some sense of control, and don't want an asset at the end (I'm too old for that) - will those who lease or have leased answer these questions:

    1. Do the end-of-year tax benefits outweigh some of what I read as the 'closeness' of a company driver's income and a L/O?

    2. If it's as bad as some posts make it seem, why stay? Is there an out at TransAm? I know one company's L/O program does.

I am so sorry, Honeybadger. You have been a good driver and given it your all, it's a shame that they didn't work with you more on keeping you lined up with good loads. It has always been a middle management and unpaid hours problem with TransAm. If you get caught up in that several times in a row it is hard to recover whether you are company or lease. We had a really bad year because Husband lost a fantastic DM, then he had no DM and then he had one that was so obviously unqualified..... and it is the driver that suffers for those middle management situations.

But, don't leave the TransAm thread .....I stayed whether they wanted me to or not!:biggrin_255: The reason I have stayed is to try to help other drivers navigate some of the problems we had .... and because this is a great bunch of folks that do their best to share what they have learned. So that being said, you have certainly done your part to help new TransAm drivers and you belong with us!

    oliver2 Thanks this.

Husband always hated those swaps, many times they switch your days and nights around. It seemed like you could never catch up on your rest or on your miles after those swaps. While they can do swaps anywhere, of course, one of the things we learned was that they had premium places that you were more likely to do a swap. Effingham and Indianapolis were two really big ones for us. If Husband had a load with good miles he wouldn't stop anywhere near those places.....if he had one he wanted to get rid of, then that is where he parked for his 10. Brookville, Pennsylvania was another big swap hub for Husband and Atlanta was another. I'm sure that there are a few more that are prime for swaps ....any others that you can think of guys?
