Thank you for clairifying that as I did mis word what I was trying to say getting my point across. It is highly and unlikely for someone to be granted a medical card for being on psych drugs. To much of a liability for companies.

Yes, it's funny. That's not the first time I've done that trick. I get those cheap ones from drugs-med website and always carry a few around for situations like that. It's funny watching some guy that hasn't looked at his wife in 3 years, all of a sudden walking around with the "deer in the headlights" look on his face.

I'm just saying. If it were me I'd be paranoid being on a random drug testing schedual and having to worry about pissing clean. That's just me though. Never have done drugs doubt I ever will. I won't say never but I doubt I will as they don't appeal to me. It just seems like it'd be something that would make a person paranoid there's a lot on the line. Idk maybe I'm just a paranoid person.

Never knew about that. Thank you. My depression has been under control for a few years now. After living with it all these years I've learned to deal with things and the hardships of it. I have my days and times of the year. But I also quit taking my prescribed meds because I decided to drive a truck. Medical records are sealed and it'll be a cold day in hell before DOT finds out my diagnosis. Same way with the sheriffs department. Be ###### if I'm losing my guns. I'm a lot more sane than 3/4 of the people I see every day.
You are welcome. Mental health is a very touchy issue. Has been more so in recent years. I don't care to talk about my situation much as some people hear what I go through and freak out but you'd never know the conditions I deal with if we sat down and talked. Hell my girlfriend thought I was ######## her when I told her.

As long as its under control and you can prove that you are not a danger to yourself or others and have the condition under control companies really don't bat an eye at it. I personally have NEVER, and NEVER WILL mark down on a DOT physical my condition. No sense in it. Now I will say after knowing others who deal with the same issues there is always a remote possibility that somebody can lose it. The main thing is having the responsibility to get the help when you need it. We all function normally and deal with it differently. Its the people that don't get help that have the problems and give the rest of us a bad name. Or the doctors that don't listen to the patients, or parents that think their kids are faking it. Not criticizing anybody's parenting just saying. I do know of one of my old doctors that should have his licence revoked for good. The doctor I see about once a year now, best guy I've ever been too. He's seen me change over the years and can tell when something is wrong. I'm responsible when things get to bad I pick up the phone and get an appointment and ask for his opinion. And if everybody did that, mental health issues wouldn't be viewed as they are most of the time.

I know what ya mean. I've got a 10 going on 11 year old step son that has a serious multiple disorders and has been in a mental hospital a few times over the last couple years. Bipolar, ADHD, PTSD. His first time in he had to be locked up because he threatened to cut my neighbors daughters throat on the bus onthe way home from school one day. I mean he is really unstable. He goes from being so happy one minute (to a point of scary) to instantly raging tearing up the walls and pulling down doors and harming others with physical abuse (something his dad did to him when he was younger) then I have to restrain him for so long and if he doesn't calm down within a certain time frame then we have to call a sheriff out to restrain him. The past 4 years of living with him has been pure hell until the past few weeks hes been doing a lot better.

Why in your condition would you want to be a driver. UMM have you seen the way most of us older drivers walk are backs are messed up along with everything else but really these trucks beet the heck out of you. I would suggest morphine with your issues you will need it. For real look at another type of job you will thank me in the long run

It was certainly misleading when it was stated that DOT takes no exceptions to any type of anti depressants, mood stabilizers, etc (although he did admit that he was trying to say it differently.) It is also personally offensive to me that people have this way thinking. I was on Zoloft for a number of years after my Mothers death. Even though it was an antidepressant, I took it for anxiety and panic attacks. Zoloft helped me, but people automatically hear the name Zoloft (Lexapro, Wellbutrin, etc,) they think that your crazy, unstable, and otherwise cannot be trusted. There was some discussions as to the effacy of antidepressants used as antiseizure medications, and studies have proved very encouraging. http://professionals.epilepsy.com/page/thera_antidepress.html I don't think that you can go out and say that they are widely used in the management of epilepsy though...especially in the face of such great antiseizure medications like Keppra and Lyrica.

To return to my original point (and to agree,) These drugs are ok with DOT as long as it is documented by the prescribing Dr that you are not adversely affected by the medication. You might, however, still have a hard time finding a company that will go along with it. And since Marijuana is a Sch. 1 drug, DOT will not be ok with one using it...medical or not.

To the Op, if you have that much trouble now with your back....in a few years you will regret ever having tried sitting down in a truck. Not trying to rain on your parade , you do what you want to. But , you'll only make those back problems much , much worse in the future.

Man I would really try to find an alternative to Tylenol. That stuff will kill you. Literally, it will destroy your liver. There's drawbacks to every over the counter pain med, but I'd try ibuprofen instead. A few things you might consider are talking to a few specialists to see if they have any advice. Ask your doctor about any possible herbal alternatives, and maybe even talk to a nutritionist or homeopathic doc. I don't have any idea what your condition is, but there might be exercises you can do to help alleviate the pain. I'd start by talking to your doctor about it and seeing what advice they have for natural pain remedies and go from there personally.
