I need training

I checked with Roadmaster the other day, and one of their programs cost $5,500. This does not include the cost of the exam and the DOT physical. I have no idea if they have a teaching facility near you.

OTC here in Springfield, MO has good marks. That's where I am going. There is another school in Neosho I have heard good things about. Prime Trucking also has a one on one CDL instructor program.

 

Have a suggestion for you that works. Look into going to a community college or technical school. Cost would not be near 5 grand. Maybe 1700 if you needed room, board, and cover cost of meals.

Then once you have permit, see about working with a House hold goods carrier. You will work your butt off but the additional training will be invaluable. Plus you will earn some cash.
After a little while there, driving their trucks, learning some "advanced" backing into tight driveways, and around neighborhoods, you will be ready to take the CDL test. Most HHG carriers that I know will allow you to use their trucks to get your CDL.
The moving season is fast approaching so finding a position should not a be problem for you.

With this route you are looking at 10 weeks of training, about 2 months or so training with a company, then you get your CDL. It's not fast but you will earn money doing it and it won't take all your money you have now.

Personally I don't like the "schools" that are 3 or 4 weeks. You only learn what you need to pass the test. There isn't any training for what you actually have to deal with in the real world. Another reason I am recommending this route. You will be a real driver and not a steering wheel holder out of a CDL Mill.
