I would love to know exactly what they got fired for. Not logging load checks is understandable. I know it always takes me 7-9 min to fuel and clean the windows and be gone. Also what about the places that tell you to unsecure the glass then stay in the cab until we are done(1.5-3 hours). Are we supposed to log that as unloading or sb?

Used to be a minimum of 15 minutes because that was the least amount of time you could show on paper logs. Don't know if that still applies to E logs

Apparently a few of them got fired for not doing load checks, being on-duty for loading and unloading, and not doing pre-trips.

Good point... I wonder if that does still apply. I'll have to look that up.

I think we all need some clarification on this. When I went through Maverick training two years ago we were told to log a minimum of 15 minutes when loading, unloading and pre-trip. As for the 15 min for fueling I've never herd that before.
This is an issue throughout the trucking industry and the solution is simple, pay drivers by the hour not the mile. You would then see 100% log book compliance and it would be much safer out on the roads. I guess you could say the industry is stuck on stupid.

jxu417, Rigbuilder and Evil_E Thank this.

See, when I went through training, they told us to log on-duty the entire time we were loading our unloading. At first, most of us were. That stopped pretty quickly.

A lot of what they tell you in orientation is with a wink and a nod.

On the fueling issue it's hard to "log it as we do it" if they want 15 min. Also if they wanted to teach a lesson buy sending out the fleet wide message about all this it would be nice if they sent a follow up so we can learn from this. They could have just fired those guys and no one would have ever know.
