This is a fear of mine when they are able to change the contracts... I guess I'll hold out hope for the best and make changes accordingly... Sorry it didn't work out for you frank, good luck down the road

    Frank Acavano Thanks this.

Wow this is not good. I will have to do some real hard thinking after the first of the year. I understand Watkins position, but they must understand ours also. Lower pay will mean a lower class of drivers. Safety will suffer.

I'm not gonna panic until there's a definite reason to panic... My tractor is paid for... If they force us to mileage I think I'm gonna buy a trailer and get my own authority... I'm happy at sunco and don't need the added headaches of all that but like all of us, I do this to make money

I started in June and my months are listed on the spreadsheet ive posted here in previous threads.
The besy ive done is $1.42...with a three month avg at 1.41 all miles ...loaded+deadhead.subtract the 2-4cpm in reefer costs...and looks like about $1.38.5 p/m. If they use the fuel surcharge weve been getting...50cpm +...then the $1.00 per mile would be a huge win....a 12cpm raise.
I dont understand why they would force that on us...when im close to accepting it.

    Frank Acavano Thanks this.

A buddy of mine just inquired with Candice about doing a lease purchase... She said they have no more trucks... I'm assuming they must of sold them all to celadon. She said they are looking for companies to partner with so they can continue doing lease purchases... She also told him a lot is going to change on the contracts... Just thought this was interesting

    Hi Percent,

Just my .02 - First of all, once they switch you to mileage - you will no longer be getting that .50+ per mile FSC. LMB was right when he said that he was getting in the .55 range before - that's because they were figuring deadhead miles into the calculations as well. On Mileage, you are paid FSC for ONLY the loaded miles, and that is computed at the DOE's weekly average fuel cost nationwide, in the .43-46 range these days. My FSC went down drastically after getting on mileage.

In addition, you have to remember that the .90/mile they are paying now for DH miles is INCLUDED in your total miles for the week, which, at least for me in the SE division - was no more than 2000. So it's not like those DH miles are increasing your weekly/monthly mileage rate. You're just getting paid. .90/mile now with it, and NO FSC, instead of $1.00/mile. I think this mileage plan is just a shell game to make us feel better about the fact that we no longer pay reefer fuel and are getting paid for DH miles - but when I compared my short time on % versus mileage - it was no comparison. My weekly gross dropped into the $3k range, from around $4k. Of course, I was one the early guinea pigs on this plan - first one on it - and first one out - so I'm just sharing what happened to me. YMMV.

I'm sad that it's coming to this - I really wanted Sunco to be my last stop - easy going people, close to home, thought I could actually make a living AND buy a truck at the same time here in FL - where that's not easy to do.

And now Candice is saying "a lot is going to change" on the contracts? Hmmm...wonder what that could mean? Stay tuned!
