I keep reading about people having a twic card. What exactly is that for? I'm new to all this. Thanks

I don't have one but I think it's just to get in to ports. Which I'd rather not have to mess with ports anyway.

    mje and wtxiceman Thank this.

So if just doing oilfield work, I don't need to worry about it?

TWIC = Transportation Worker Identification Credential. The only people I've heard about needing TWIC cards are going to shipping ports to deal with intermodal containers. You shouldn't need one for oilfield stuff.

    mje and Lilbit Thank this.

I have Twic Card, The only place that evers as for is the customers located at the ports. Military bases do there own security background checks. I on to Edwards, Nellis boyh did thier own separate security checks.

TWIC is there to give you access to secured ports. A full federal background check is performed. If you have any plans to carry fuel, explosives, or dangerous chemicals it will allow access to sensitive shipping areas. I am going to get one so that when a load requires TWIC I will be there and available to pick it up.
