I would strongly recommend going to a Pain Clinic and explain your situation and goals. They will have a number of legal options to try. My brother had a 3 year bout with pain, recovering from a horrendous accident. The ultimate trick for him was an electric stimulus near the base of his spine.

I have another question and this is more important than the cannabis question; why even consider trucking for a career when you have back problems?

The reason I am asking is the liability to the company if something happens to you while you are driving their truck or have to file a worker comp claim for even slipping on the steps of the truck. I wouldn't even consider anyone for a job like this when they already have existing back conditions that have only one or two ways of controlling the pain, drugs and heavy narcotic drugs.

I am with the others, with back pain trucking will be horrible!

a couple years ago I injured my back and got a herniated disk bulging on both sides of my L5, I could not sit or walk without pain, I was laying down for months. Before that I had back trouble starting all the way back when I was 12 when I injured it at that time. You become immune to all OTC drugs, I have a very high tollerance to pills and nothing will work when I have pain with anything so I have to suck it up. Luckily my back got better and its pain free these days after several months of chiropractic and physical therapy but if you ride in a truck just for a day you will see what it will do to you.
With my back im doing fine in the truck for now but I refuse to do driver unloads if it ever happens, doctors said I could re injure my back if I over do it. I think my last injury was partly from all the heavy lifting I did as an executive chef throwing around 80-100lb cases of meat daily.

its hard to get disability these days, sometimes it takes several filings and years to get it. Took my buddy 2 years to finally win and a lawyer since he had severe seizers while being a heavy equipment op and still has them even with meds.

Young + back problems + trucking = walking around like a chimp.

Go get corrective surgery. Then you won't need drugs. They've improved a lot the past decade.

That's standard protocol. Almost everyone gets rejected then two years later they go before a judge. You have to have an attorney or your chances of winning are slim. You pretty much have to be confined to a wheelchair to get first round approval. They also place you in groups, under 50 hard to get, 50-55 pretty good chance, above 55 you are a shoe in.

Well I guess even if you go forward with driving who says you can just up and quit smoking the weed.. I mean its kinda like smoking cigarettes trust me my old lady smokes. the thing is maybe you can quit for a little bit in order to pass your dot drug test but after that lets say you are having really bad pains your dispatcher is pissing you off and a customer ticks you off along with everyone else.. the thing is do you have the will power to quit it for good..Some say yes but when the pressure is on well, And trust me there is a lot of pressure in this industry.. Not trying to deter you but just keep in mind this isnt a easy industry and having medical problems on top of it. There usually is not a hospital near by when you need it. Keep in mind those randoms also

That's a good point, it will be the examiner who will decide more often than not and you have to disclose a lot of these things to the examiner like your meds and why you are taking them. If you don't, that can be considered falsification of the form and as a company, they can fire you for that.

When I cracked a wisdom tooth I didn't have the cash for the extraction. Someone told me about Cayenne pepper. Bought two bottles at the local drug store. Popped one pill with a full glass of water. Anything less and you'll be burping fire. Another 12 hours later Ipopped another. the next morning my pain was gone. Then I took one pill a day for 6 months and then stopped. The pain didn't come back for 6 months. Took more pills and the pain went away again.I finally got my wisdom teeth removed. Doc prescribed pain meds, but I took the cayenne pepper for a few days. No more pain :)
