Some may.... My company provides everything that you need- and it is very nice equipment.
NJ Newbie Thanks this. -
Believe me your question isn't silly...
You may get idiotic replies, but there are many kind drivers in here that will help you out, ask any question that's on your mind.
Thanks

My company supplies the equipment, but i do remember when i was researching a few companies some of the required you to pay for the equipment.
Which in all honesty is not a bad thing. Some drivers treat there securment equip like crap and dont care. If you had to pay for it yourself your actully going to care.
To many times lately i have been picking up relays that have straps that should of been tossed out ages ago. -
Sometimes a company may require at least a deposit; they will return to you when you leave the company. This cuts down on theft by drivers selling equipment.

Driving their trk. like most posters have said they will supply it.
Being an O/O you buy your own.
There will be times you will buy something that you might need to help.
Some compaines may pay you back or notNJ Newbie Thanks this. -
Way back in 1968, my employer would sell the driver six chains and binders if he agreed to haul steel occasionally. Payment would be taken out of the driver's paycheck in installments. I didn't want to haul steel anyway.
On TL van, I would be charged $35 for a set of load locks, but reimbursed when turning them in at a terminal. I could secure the back of a load with rope, no charge.NJ Newbie Thanks this. -
Many company drivers will sell their company provided securement equipment and pocket the cash, then look to the company for replacements. In light of this, a company would be wise to require a driver to purchase their own equipment up front, then provide an equal exchange for any items that become unusable due to normal wear and tear.

Some companies will issue you the equipment and if it lost then will make you replace it. If it is worn out they will require you to bring it in for exchange that way they can see that it is worn out and that you did not sell it or whatever.

Melton, maverick and TMC don't. They provide it. If a company asks you to buy your own run. Unless you own your own truck, they should provide
At TMC, they would replace anything you broke as long as you brought back the broken stuff. Selling company equipment and then getting replacements is just asking to be fired/arrested.
