Forgery has nothing to do with driving. Possession is not the same as driving under the influence so not a problem. Burglary is theft and would give an insurer pause. But you only have one and not two things working against you. So while it would have been easier for you to get a job if you had a DUI instead of the burglary it did not stop you. If you had more than one of the no no crimes listed on the insurance companies forbidden list then you would not be driving right now. Even with the burglary your company has to pay a higher premium on the cargo portion of their policy because of you, I promise you. You were lucky though because I was never able to find a driving job for any of my clients who had a theft conviction. Maybe times are changing.
2 felonies and 1 DUI???

Little off topic, but its very interesting you burgled in 1990 and six years later you burgled again. Didnt the jail time from the first one make you think twice about doing it again?mje Thanks this.

No , not off topic at all.....you gave him some of the best advice he is gonna get...will he be able to find a trucking job..maybe , will it be a "good" trucking job , probably not...ever. But "good trucking job" can be a relative term I guess. The OP asked could he be hired...the actual truth is YES....he just needs to be made aware that the jobs he will have to choose from will more than likely not be the type's of trucking jobs that most folks want or care to stay at once they have some experience. He asked for advice....let's all tell the truth...you can be hired...yep...will it be a really good job , with great pay , benefits/retirement plan , great home time , nice equipment ,...all the perks and benefits that a driver who doesn't have the past the you do.....probably not , at least not for a long time. If you are willing to make that sacrifice to be a driver then GOOD LUCK to you. Just be aware it's not gonna be an easy task/path that you've chosen.

Forgery, burglary and possession? Forget it. No company will touch you with those because of the dollar value of a lot of the freight and possession is the kiss of death. You are drug tested for this job.

There are agencies out there that can do the background checks. The background check for the hazmat endorsement is an excellent example. That same process can be used on a lesser scale. I believe most states are using the FBI for the background checks for the hazmat. If one must be "bonded" for a job, you will go through a background check. There are jobs where security and insurance requirements specify these things, and for good reason. For those jobs, they will still have to allow for background checks, as they will have to allow for them in trucking.

Best advice,if you got the money, see if you can get those expunged.its been so long that the statue of limitations is past. If not,I doubt they will matter.thats almost 20 yrs ago,but overall depends .
