I've done it. I put the rim on the front axle inside though, so it's not as noticeable. This doesn't answer your question though.

providing you have no weight issue w/ remaining tire, its much safer than running w/ a flat.

I may certainly be wrong, but I believe its entirely legal (entirely get the pun haha).

LMFAO silly question, when your dealing w/ dispatcher :biggrin_25525:

OMG I have driven from Oklahoma City back to Atlanta "singled out"
As long as your weight is low enough it's not a problem.

We've all done this I suppose...legal or not....dunno. Safe...only if you're not going too far, or you're empty (insert your own opinion here). I would ask your dispatcher that question the other poster posed...if you can send a guy out to single it out..why not bring a tire and fix the problem........

I agree, what's the sense of sending someone out to single it out if they're just going to have to replace the tire later anyway.. Like the old saying goes... better to fix it right the first time than to fix it twice. could mean more down time for you in the long run. Something I might do if I was stuck and on my own, but if they're going to send someone I'd want the tire.

    Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this.

    I agree.....
I have run with one singled out on an empty trailer with no problem but MR.DOT may think differently.

Perfectly legal as long as you do not exceed the weight limitation of the single.
There is no law that says "How many" tires you need, only that the tires you have not be loaded above the tires load rating.

What makes you think someone had to come out to single it out? If it was an outside tire, he could pull it off by hand. Am I the only old guy here who remembers when drivers did what they had to do to get down the road?
I read posts here about drivers spending three hours at the T/A waiting to get a mudflap installed or going to their terminal to get a fuse replaced.

Buy a pair of pliers, a hammer, two screwdrivers, crescent wrench, a roll of duct tape, and a razor knife. There is nothing you cant fix with those.

    C'mon 'Merica THINK!
