Air pressure keeps the tire properly inflated. The more weight, the more air pressure you need.
Dual tires do not mean you can haul twice the weight. Look on the sidewall for recommend air pressure. A single tire will always require more air pressure then duals and will also have different load rating.

Just saw one today, first one in a long time. Were you on Rt95 in Ct?
-
Well..............because that's what he said in his post. But I do agree with you
-
It's legal as long as two conditions are met.
1. The tire is removed
2. You don't exceed the tire ratings of the remaining tires.
Most are 6250 lbs.... 7 x 6250 = 43,750.
So actually fully loaded you can still handle it.
Hammer166, Milktanker, rockee and 1 other person Thank this. -
I have used that truck wash a decent amount of times. Way better than staying in Joplin.
-
Why? You should have your green and white bible with you.
truckon Thanks this. -
Here's a question.
You remounted the rim to the inside with standard tools?
When the torque needs to be, what, 450-500 foot/pounds?
And a regular set of tools will not even loosen those lugs.
If you did so, I'd say you made things all the less safe.

dear sir, have you ever seen a tire Nut torque wrench ? they're like broom lenght used by petro and T/A. it can be use to tighten the nuts all the way in.. and then some after XXX miles (recommended by the Big truck stop)
-
Got the chance of a roll over. Flat beds do that. All the weight we carry, Humm. Blow a second tire, most likely nothing happens. Went through the windshield of an on coming car. Belt cost 5 people their lives. Is a load worth that much? Seen Vans sling a tread. tire still has air. Tread hit a kid on a Motorcycle. He lived. Re caps kill people. We know this, no more carp tires.
-
Not quite right, Condo! Because your suspension divides that load fairly equally to the four hubs, 34000lb/4 = 8500lb on each corner. And that's going to overload just about anything short of a super single or a flotation steer tire.
The bare rim doesn't have to be inboard, Moose. It can stay on the outside.
