I am looking to see if anyone has any infomation regarding any of these companies, good or bad?
Ford's Clover Leaf Carriers - MC 792683
DS Logistics - MC 170713
Skyways Express - MC 805247(used to run under MC740394)
My company was recently notified of a brokering scheme by Ford's Clover Leaf Carriers. They would pick up loads in the Memphis area, cross dock, consolidate and rebroker out. All three parties listed above were or are still working out of warehouse space at 1046 Arkansas St. Memphis, TN. Ford's Clover Leaf is supposedly out of business now and authority was just revoked. They held a load hostage and delivered the shipment after being paid by Tcheck in early May, 2013 after being a week late for the original delivery appt. Ford's Clover Leaf brokered(without brokerage authority) the shipment to DS logistics. They never paid DS Logistics for doing the shipment for them. DS Logistics brokered to a carrier and paid that carrier who actually hauled the shipment. Ford's was a family run company. The NMFTA lists James ford and the tax information is signed by Kathy Ford. During the process of the shipment, Jennifer Ford was the main contac and claimed to be the operations manager. Jeremy Lopez(son-in-law of Jennifer) was a fake driver delivering the shipment and David Hernandez(Jennifer's husband) executed the carrier contract with our company and is listed at a member of "Dispatch and Operations". After some web searches I found this in not the first time this familiy has been conducting fraudulent services. David Hernandez is also the operations manager at Skyways Express and I have been told that Jennifer Ford works there too but not confirmed. Has anyone had a run in with any of these companies?

DS Logistics seems to be the only legitimate company operating with any credit. Apex has them listed with a $7000.00 suggested credit limit.

Yes, I just had a HORRIBLE experience w/Skyways Express. Everything in the above statement is TRUE! Jennifer Ford-Hernandez is an liar & a terrible excuse for a business owner. They lied about picking up my load then delivered it 4 days late. Then my customer discovers they cross loaded the original truck onto another truck that already had a partial (6 pallets) on it. And double stacked my customers product.......resulting in possible damage to my customers shipment. Use them at your own risk!!!

How may we recognize if the load is double brokered?

DS Logistics - MC 170713 is the only has operating autority, BUT http://checkfreightbroker.com says they DTP is 63

Assume it is.
Double brokering is like 976 numbers in the 90's. Over 90% of the revenue in that business was from porn but everyone in the business said they didn't do it.
All the big guys say they don't but call them with a load you need covered and they will jump at it. -
A little more information into this, Skyways and Fords(although thier business is listed at a different address) work out of 1046 Arkansas St, Memphis TN. They would take loads picking up in the Memphis area. They bring them back to that address and crossdock them. They will consolidate if they can with other frieght and rebroker the shipments out leaving the 1046 Arkansas St address. If you booked a load with either of these companies or another broker at this address, I would make sure they pay you asap.

JJJ,
What you just described is EXACTLY what they did to us!! After they picked up our load & failed to deliver it on time Jennifer Ford-Hernandez got on the phone w/us & used every curse word in the book! So little class & absolutely no regard for business ethics. -
Thanks for the info. We'll be sure to watch out for them.

This is a medium size business if you google it and they do have some trucks it looks like.
I counted at least 6 day cabs too.
Looks like some tank trucks too.
