so if I wanted to beef up the engine for more power horsepower/torque! What will have to be done to the tranny/clutch wise to make this work with the above transmission model?
-
You would have to replace the clutch and trans to match the torque output of the engine, or be careful!
cetanediesel Thanks this. -
drive like you have an egg between your foot and the throttle, and don't think you're going to go pulling a hill at full throttle at peak torque. That's a good way to twist off drivelines

That being said I've seen my motor backed by a 15spd. Those are rated for 1400 or 1500 ft.lbs I believe. So in theory if they really are a 1400 ft.lbs.tq transmission they're pushing 500-600+ft.lbs over what they're supposed to be at the flywheel yet they still run.capper17 Thanks this. -
That's a great line and visual......379exhd Thanks this. -
That's how I was taught to drive. I learned that with my pickup too. Tranny is rated at 500 she's running over 700ft.lbs. through there. I didn't feel like twisting off an input shaft or blowing the rear end out.

Most FRO transmissions are capable of more torque in the top two gears, it would be rated at 1400 in 9th and 10th.

What motor do you have and how much beefing up are we talking about?
-
If you don't have a Transmission Oil Cooler, you should install one before uprating your Engine. If i remember right, it's required in Eaton Fuller Transmissions rated for more then 1300ftlbs...
