First of all I would like to thank U2net, silenteagle, gatorbait, ironpony, and others who have posted their prime experience. I've been reading these blogs for some time, doing research, and made the call to recruitment two weeks ago. I hope I have what it takes to survive...I have a super varied experience in all but two forms of transportation, trucking and shipping.
If I survive training, hopefully I will have useful insights and tips to post here.

Well made it to Springmo this afternoon. To hell with the Dawg. ..Eagle was much faster. So far so good, checked into the hotel (WiFi) is down. Met my roommate, four other truckers, and two more trainees. Food is on me til Monday, so I'm over at the Steak N Shake. Not bad and very affordable. No one warned me about the mountain of paperwork to fill out!!!!

First full day of PSD is now complete. Met Stan, seems like a great guy, Wally, and several others who have gone out of their way to explain the entire process. Finished the interview, medical, drug screening, and five of the required modules for the CBT. Tomorrow it's off to DMV for the CDL permit. I've met some really educated people with a lot of knowledge about the industry, returning former Prime drivers (which says a lot about Prime).I've even met a gentleman who was a L/O, but had to drop it after five months because of a major family emergency. So, maybe depending on the situation, if you walk away from a lease with extenuating circumstances, it's possible to return to Prime. The food isn't bad, and it appears that Prime picked up my sunday afternoon arrival on their dime. We'll see....On the other hand....I've seen people that make me question their dedication to ANY job, let alone one that demands detail to driving, studying for their exams, CBT, etc. I mean, it's not like it wasn't laid out in the orientation package that was received. Had a roommate who left this evening to start TNT, after leaving the shared room a complete disaster (note: be respectful of others and the condition that you leave shared quarters). There are several 21 year olds in the class whose sole goal is to LEASE immediately so that they get a truck with a "bad ### paint job and chrome wheels". As a former business owner and accountant, the focus on a paint job instead of mastering trucking and making a joke of the whole CDL process is a recipe for their own personal disaster. I'm trying not to cast judgement, but.......to be continued.....
Chinatown, DragonTamerBrat, Truckie83 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Sounds like things are progressing for you, good luck, and have fun.
