HomeTimeQueen i had the truck taken back to fix the AC because they told me it would work as soon as i git it running so i made a run to coca cola over in Texas then tried to have it delivered but only made to Gainesville Texas before i put in a breakdown to get the AC fix. So head back to get it fix and im drained out completely. So i rest and leave for my next trip and again had to put another breakdown because i heard something under the truck making a unfamiliar noise it turned out it was the tire and in the process from being already drained i almost passed out had to call an ambulance to take me to the ER for dehydration so now im waiting to get released to work in the proper form. Been waiting three days already and counting. Its so frustrating just waiting. Im trying my best to stick it out but its gotten to a point where i just want to pack up and go home.

That is horrible!!!! Is it fixed now??? I really don't understand why you got stuck with that truck .....when Husband was there they always traded them out around the 500,000 mile mark ....sometimes a little more, but most of the time around the 480,000 mark. The last month he was there, July, his dash AC went out and was blowing out heat even with the switch off. Luckily he was on his way home and didn't have but a hundred miles or so to go. He was a HVAC contractor before this trucking business so he had a vent thermometer with him .....the dash was blowing out 160 degree heat on him. He had to stop every so often get out of the truck and pour cold water over his head. He tried plugging the vents but it didn't help much.

You are a good driver, Badboy. I know you are just from our conversations ....you have tried to learn as much as you can. Right now you are frustrated, worn down, worn out and still suffering the effects of dehydration. Don't give up yet!!!! You're one of the good guys ....and we need as many of those in this industry as we can get. Unless things have changed dramatically at TA, you will get a new truck soon .....it has too many miles on it and is starting to cost them too much money in down time and repairs. You have a lot of money invested in this already ...I want to see you get a return on it. Try to stick it out for at least 6 months ....then you will have other opportunities. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Gee, I think everyone is having a rough week. Husband is frustrated right now over a broker load. And he doesn't have a QC in his truck so guess who gets to listen to it! LOL! I don't think we ever get used to the frustrations of the trucking industry.... I know I haven't!:biggrin_2559: TransAm gave me gray hair and wrinkles ...and made money for the people that sell heartburn medication, Miss Clairol, and wrinkle creams! If I wasn't so old and beat up I think I would go back to teaching people the benefits of what we used to call "pain compliance". Since there are just too many of them that need a lesson in pain compliance, I am just going to send prayers and positive thoughts to Husband and all of my driving friends!

From the 80's, I wouldn't think that would even show up now. How did they find that out?

Well Badboy, I will say this. One thing I have learned over the years is that when things start going downhill, it seems they keep going in that direction. But if you stick it out and don't let it beat you you will always climb back up further than you were before. Generally when you give up you will always regret it. I guess it might be that I am just too stubborn for my own good. I have to say though from reading the posts on here that there are a lot of people that will give you the moral support you need to succeed. I only wish I had access to these resources 15 yrs ago. I definitely will be relying on it myself when things get dim and will try my best to encourage others when they need it. Best of luck to you.
