Not to say you are wrong but I was told that a class X had a bar on probation unless the judge and prosecutor agreed to lower the charge to make it a lower class.
mje Thanks this. -
your right he's not being completly honest here!!!! Class X Is a Class X Mandatory Jail Time in Illinois...
mje Thanks this. -

Violent crimes, like a majority of what is on that list, tend to scare employers. But drug crimes like yours are so common it borders on social cliché.
5 years old and probation, you might have a shot at a smaller company. I'm not sure if any of the big ones would hire you until it's at least 7 years old, but you can definitely take a shot. Don't be afraid to ask those that turn you down what you would need to do in order to get hired. This will give you an idea of the playing field you're on, and maybe any actions you can take to help yourself find employment.
Don't hesitate to use the resources provided by your state. Pretty much every state has programs in place to assist released felons in finding employment. Having your CDL will help those agencies find someone who will give you a shot.
Good luck. And don't let judgmental people get you down. I applaud your efforts to get your life on track.Tonythetruckerdude, thteothers, mje and 4 others Thank this. -
Here it is again:
(720 ILCS 570/410) (from Ch. 56 1/2, par. 1410)
Sec. 410. (a) Whenever any person who has not previously been convicted of, or placed on probation or court supervision for any offense under this Act or any law of the United States or of any State relating to cannabis or controlled substances, pleads guilty to or is found guilty of possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance under subsection (c) of Section 402 or of unauthorized possession of prescription form under Section 406.2, the court, without entering a judgment and with the consent of such person, may sentence him to probation.
You have to read the entire law before anyone can claim he's being dishonest.Hammer166, NavigatorWife, mje and 1 other person Thank this. -
Thanks for the clarification, thteothers. I'm sure you are very used to people being extremely skeptical and judgmental. A common human trait, I'm afraid. Keep trying.
You might look into aggregate haulers or trash pick up companies, to get your foot in the door. It ain't wonderful, but it would be behind the wheel, and might be a place to start. A lot of us have done, (or are doing,) one or the other. Still beats flipping burgers or working in an office.mje, 48Packard and thteothers Thank this. -
I'm not saying anything against the guy, or saying he is wrong, it may be my source is wrong and because they work for the state doesn't mean they are always right.
My info is coming from Illinois and I have asked this a year ago about another issue not to do with trucking so they said there is no probation for a class X felony because of the crime involved is considered serious enough that the judge may make a mistake and give probation. They said that an agreement between the judge and prosecutor is made to lower the charges to include probation at the time the case goes to the judge.
Sorry but the exception may be something that I'm not being told exists or can be applied to this class, why I said I am not saying he's wrong but that exception leaves only one crime to assume he did, a drug crime and this is something that if he is convicted of, even if he got probation would be a show stopper with a lot of companies.
I hope he does get a job by the way.mje Thanks this. -
thanks everyone. after reviewing my records, it looks like it has only been 4 years since the conviction, so i might have to wait another year before reaching the 5 year bench mark. I'm just going to apply everywhere. if anyone knows or any companies i can call please pm me.
mje Thanks this.
