Is there an annual book that I can buy with the list of permit costs/rules/regulations,etc etc for each state?

Landstar says comdata has one for $300 and an annual update will cost $175...

Or I can buy a CD for $400 from comdata and updates costs the same(I think)...

    Anyone know???

there is a OS load and pilot car directory for $15. if you can find them at the truck stops. it's where i bought mine. it has the regulations. but no pricing on permits. so if you find a pricing list. i'd be interested in that as well. i jjust call our office for prices. or take one they give me.

    i don't work for LS.

You can go to the states you will be traveling , website for free. The books I have used have been outright wrong or sometimes confusing. If I am going to a state I don't normally travel I always check their site. If for some reason your still confused you can then call and can normally get a good answer.

I use the Sammons book which can be found online. It has some errors so I don't completely trust it but it is a good start.

That Comdata book will drive you insane!!!! It's over 800 pages and tons of info, but honestly pointless. Each state changes their rates all the time. I have always just figured $50 a state and went by that. I usually come ahead on the permit fee's with that method.

The books are ok for a general idea, ran with a guy once that acted like that cheap little truck stop bought book was the bible. We compared it to provision sheets that came with out permits, there is a lot of wrong information in those books. I have never found a state that I couldn't go to their website and get the provision sheets from, for free.

    SHC Thanks this.

I guess that's why quite a few states will have a clause on the permit that states that the OSOW permit is not valid without the provision sheets attached.
