Thanks for all the replies. Class A does make more sense than Class B. My experience with Dumpin Stuff was from 03 to 08. We were offroad 75% of the time, driving "vintage" Macks. It was comparable to being on a run down roller coaster at a parking lot Carnival. They never let us down though. I got a job offer to deliver furniture today so I might be leaving this alone for now but I think about it everytime i see DOH working on the roads.

Indeed I do, and granted the CARB law is forcing the company into new rides. But they do all have air suspension which I guess isn't common?
Appreciate the kind words about WCSG....Most of our drivers work hard to keep a clean ride (most, not all) and our mechanics do a great job on staying on top of PM & repairs.GeorgeDee Thanks this. -
lol No, not at all. I've never worked for nor know of any fleets that spec their trucks with air suspension. Usually only see it on converted road tractors that O/O's seem to run a lot.GeorgeDee Thanks this.

I thought if you have a class A you could already drive a dump truck. Anyways, two of my sons did it for a while and they made OK, they worked on commission.GeorgeDee Thanks this.

With all the DOT scales in the bay area and LA basin, it's nice to have somewhat of an idea of what we weigh when we load dirt from a job site and aren't able to actually scale out.GeorgeDee Thanks this.

Dumps are on a short lease. Round and round you go.

That's what I couldn't stand about it, the constant back and forth to and from the same #### place 10 times per day.
But wait there's more! It's called "on site" work. Basically loading, going around the block and dumping. When you can see where you're dumping things can get pretty depressing lol.
Then again I couldn't stand long haul either. I gotta be home every night but I can't stand line hauling fill out of an excavation site either.
Need a happy medium.GeorgeDee Thanks this. -
I am home every night.... below is a pic of my route from yesterday, with A&F being the yard where I park, the rest of the letters are in sequence of my loads and drops. I guess most "dump" companies do not operate like we do, but we do a lot of specialized hauling.

Get your class a then you can do dumps or trailers.dumps you'll get home everyday but you'll run your ##### off for little money and be too tired to do anything when your done work.

I did an on site haul one day......49 loads the new pit record. I wasn't even trying, really.
GeorgeDee and Flying Dutchman Thank this.
