The lessons of Les Miserable, "Look down, Look down, Don't look me in the eye, You'll always be a slave..." is the inherent evil of blind oppression, blind obedience, situational blindness and the human consequences of taking wrongful advantage. Hugh Jackman (Jean Valjean), Russell Crowe (Javert), Anne Hathaway (Fantine) and the rest. Great cast. And contrasting that with the opened and opening hearts of Valjean, of Fantine and certainly Cosette (Amanda Seyfried)--self-sacrifice on behalf of others.
Directly applicable to mega carrier starter companies' taking advantage via 80-100 hr weeks OTR for $400-$600/week or less--not just the OP's predicament and the stiff reactions to him.
Guess who's coming to dinner?? A felon!!
I would assert that it is not defensive of the felon we should be, he's got a heavy road to hoe of his own. Can we take up a felon's predicament (not blindly or stupidly--to recognize and sympathize, if not empathize) like the Bishop who saw good in Valjean despite his theft from the church... or consequentially become Javert's ironic self-sacrifice--his own life for trying to subsume Valjean's. Why begrudge a felon a happy ending in trucking?
What's to gain by holding him back?
/Oh, well. Probably no one has a clue what I'm talking about, eh? Where's the Bright One, double yellow? Many edits made here...
Books?? Didn't those go away with USPS?? Can you still find those?? The movie is an adaptation, a musical, after all. Not the full enchilada of Valjean's dilemma, etc.
Loved the movie and the performances. And the movie was lo-o-o-o-ong!! Hey, we're truck drivers here. : 0)
For that, this thread came under hijack as soon as folks took to evaluating the OP as a good or bad person, rather than his topic, how to get a good trucking job if a felon. The tendency to bash OPs mystifies me to no end. It's really not about him. A very Javertian response to the OP. So hijack away, you're more on topic than the bashers. Les Miserables is precisely on point.
Oh, yes, we do have at least one Javert here.
Trouble getting a company to hire me. i would love some advice

I find the movie to be a poor retelling of the book. There's a whole lot more to it than that, but I don't wish to hijack the thread.mje Thanks this.

Is the x a cover up from the level class 1 or a felony as most states don't have class x felony plus I have not seen any replies to the type of crime it was so there may be hope depending on the the 5 w's.
mje Thanks this. -
If one ever talks to a cold case detective of any major police department, they will tell you that there are criminals who have gone years, decades, without even as much as one iota of suspicion placed on them.
Some of these cold cases are some extremely serious major felonies as murder, armed robberies, burglaries, embezzling, swindling, along with other serious crimes.
It is quite true that convicted felons must pay their dues after getting out of prison to reprove themselves. There is no doubt about that whatsoever. However, there are a lot of criminals who have yet to be caught.
The BOTTOM LINE is that a "clean" record does NOT always mean a "clean" person. On the flip side, a person who has had a "dirty" past with a "dirty" record has often turned out to actually become a truly clean person.
People are NOT what they always appear to be.

Trucking is a semi-independent job in which you don't have another person looking over your shoulder all the time.wstar2003 said: ↑Well I won't judge since I don't know the situation but I am curious about some things. I have asked this question in other threads. No one has ever answered it. Who told you that in your situation trucking might be the answer to your job problems? Career counselors in prison? Is it these trucking schools? They will tell you anything to get you in the door and collect your money and sorry about your luck if you don't find a job. It is amazing to me how many of these posts have to do with felons trying to get a job in trucking. I just don't understand what makes you think trucking is the solution.
But some companies would hire Satan himself if he would promise to drive for at least a year. Just keep trying you will find somebody. That is the sad fact of the matter.Click to expand...fr8te_sh8ker Thanks this. -
Thats true MJE as i have worked with cops that were to clean and they made me uneasy and i worked with others that did some dumb things but understood 100 percent where bad choices will place them.

I can "prove" that Mendel's theory of genetic inheritance is "wrong" simply by manipulating certain numbers in the test itself
...but statistics HAVE proven that I can not say this three times fast.
