Found out today that MX has had less problems than ISX, according to a mechanic at their dealership. Also with respect to Warranty on the MX engines, if they find that the engine has been idling for more than 30% of the time the warranty is Void. He suggested a Webasto and a Tri Pak in our Alberta climate.

Talked to Oneday yesterday. His truck consistently gets 6.5mpg pulling decks.

And the Webasto equipment will be factory installed.

    I can't believe there's even a debate.

Yeah cause they will always tell you the truth. Right? I trust a mechanic at a kenworth dealership as far as I can throw him. The warranty has nothing to do with idle time, otherwise every mx engine tanker truck would have a void warranty.

Look, just drive one. When you get into 8th low take a look at your watch and see how long it takes to go from 85kph to 105k loaded. Isx maybe 30 seconds with a tri tri grossing 53000 kg mx your lucky if it is under 2 minutes. We have both and I can video them both for ya, the mx has 4.83 gears and on soft gravel roads it is just fighting to stay moving in 5th gear, isx has 4.11 and just powers along with no issues.

Mileage. Depends on the driver. The isx at 1450 is 98kph and the trip computer is 42/100. The paccar at same is 39 but if you go to 1375 it gets 32/100 which none of the isx will do. But who drives cross country at 88kph all day? Still in a tandem highway truck with lower rears it could work out better I guess.

I can see the MX being fine for the company that has the plan to run the highway pretty much all the time and turn the truck in after 4 years to get a new one. Deviate much from that, and the ISX will get my vote every time. Should also note, the problems with the ISX are all the same, EGR issues and turbo issues. They also have a wider service network. I would rather know what's wrong when my truck needs a service call rather than have it sitting in a shop with people scratching their heads. Re-sale value when the time comes, I can't imagine the MX outdoing the ISX there either.

Yes, it seems that it depends on the application the MX will be used in. As you had mentioned itsneversafe, and gokiddogo, if it is mainly highway use then the MX will be fine. Although it is good to hear that Oneday is getting 6.5 mpg pulling decks as I thought he did go with the ISX 550 2050.
