Spoke to the ex shop steward from 150 today and he told me what to write in my leave letter.

We can take a leave of absence? What did they tell you to write? Didn't know that was possible...I'm interested to know because I got an offer from Coke last week to come drive for them (must be something in the air with all these job offers luring us away).

It's very tempting because the Coke plant is only 2 miles away from my house, the schedule is Mon-Fri days (done every day by 3p or 4p) with weekends off, and the money is pretty decent.

I was figuring I would have to just put in a 2 weeks notice and be gone.

Im only leaving because I want to move home and I'm afraid about the pension as well. Plus UPSF is a little more stable

You have to write a letter requesting a leave of absence, I'm taking 6 months. Write in the letter that you can return at anytime and keep all seniority.

I wasn't sure we could take a leave while working another job but my old steward says we can.

I heard UPSF, in this town, treats their drivers like crap. Hope it's not like that there.

Sammycando here is how you write the letter. Was just told how to word it out.

    To whom it may concern,
I wish to take a personal leave of absence from this date to this date. During this time I can return at anytime and wish to keep my seniority.

Hope it helps out. Mon thru Friday is hard to not turn down. I'm currently on a Mon thru Fri bid and will keep Mon thru Fri at UPSF

@squonk I've heard that too but the guys at the terminal I'm going to were happy, a guy on this forum has been to that terminal and even said I got a good onr

You can take a LOA at the blue, but I dont think you can work anywhere else during that time.

@ACH1130 congrats on UPSF! You got to do what's best for you and you're situation. If I had no bills I do the same. You're leaving on a good note so you'll have YRC in your back pocket just in case. Always good to leave on good standings. Good luck!
